What was it like getting them on?! And it seems like eating is hellish with spacers and braces both. All I eat is noodles right now with the spacers and even them I barely chew them now!

They removed my spacers but eating is tough! The worst part for me was keeping my open & biting the bite block while they blasted my teeth with that cold freaking air. But it didn't hurt at all...molar bands were a little uncomfortable while they were trying to find the right fit. Like I said eat before you go...I didn't because I didn't get up early enough but I wished I had...actually haven't really enjoyed a meal since the spacers (that's a lie, ate like a pig @ Capt. Billy's in Md Saturday). It's an adjustment but worth it. Good luck!

Funny, I was just thinking of you when I saw you posted on my account. Earlier I saw a pic of Angela Davis and literally I thought, I wonder if Cmone had gotten her braces on yet. Now that I have braces- Angela and I no longer share the gap- however, I still have her hair...

I digress.

Seems like things are going well for you. I just finished registering for Community College in an auto tech. I also feel like I want a change in 'scenery'. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and no time like the present.

the first few weeks of having braces- time seemed to pass yb so slowly. Every mirror i could find i would check for progress. And in those first few weeks there was plenty of it. The wax sucks. It never seems to stay on and it looks crazy in the front, but sometimes thats the best you can do. I hated having to take it off every time i ate.

You think your girl is getting some braces? THat would be wild...

Alibracket change is goooood! I only used the wax for a couple of days but I do find myself removing my lip or cheek from a hook at least once a day. & yeah my gal plans on getting braces as soon as the money permits & yes it will definitely make things very....interesting...

Eating gets better everyday & then I have a day that feels like I have razor blades in my mouth. Still eating the baby pears/strawberries & fruit medley because I like them & they're good alternatives to hot fudge brownies with hot caramel added....
I'm having a hard time keeping one of my molars fresh, fresh is the part. It has a molar band but it's not wired yet. When I floss the gumline around it the most awful smell is unleashed, it smells like a tooth with a cavity but um, no cavity. & then I start going crazy with the floss & what do you know?! It starts to bleed. I'm flossing, waterpiking, proxy brushing, fluoride rinsing, brushing with my $130 sonicare & I don't know what else to do. I use therabreath & no rinses with alcohol but I do drink (on occasion ). Anyone have any suggestions? It's only one tooth, my back left molar. I use sensodyne & crest prohealth toothpaste. I sorta think the band isn't tight enough & stuff is getting under there. Any tips are suggested, anyone had a similar problem?

Hi cmone 8)

I just popped on here for a minute and noticed your post. Sorry to hear about your problem. My first time in braces, I had molar bands (not this time  ). I didn't think it was possible, but they did come loose a couple of times. Some of the cement even came out (it was white & powdery), but I don't remember any smell or anything. It definitely sounds like your molar band is loose and food is getting up there. I'd call my ortho right away 'hon if I were you.

I think Ive encountered the same problem as you. On my left molar i have a band and while I can see the blueish cement is still there and it doesnt feel exactly loose, it feels like it has a cavity and i thought I smelled something so last night I brushed the hell out of it. Today it seems to be a little better, but Im not sure. I think im going to mention it during my adjustment in May.

Thanks Mikesmile, I did call my ortho & got a 3:30 appt for today. Hope it is a loose band & not my cleaning technique.

Had my appt & they found absolutely nothing wrong. My ortho said he expected to find lots of plaque & food (seriously?! With the amt of money I'm putting out, not to mention the discomfort!). Anyway, he said I'm doing a beautiful job keeping my teeth clean. They checked for looseness & adhesive leaking...nothing. He says hopefully it'll go away on it's own. My next appt is on the 27th & if it's still smelly he's gonna take the band off for a week to see if that resolves it. I'm thinking ok that's a plan but I hope I don't kill anyone in the meantime...my poor partner...I ate this afternoon & flossed & brushed & waterpiked & I didn't smell it. I'm gonna track what I eat to see if that's a factor & continue my cleaning regimen. Any suggestions are welcome. I also brush with baking soda & rinse with peroxide everyday.

It could be the ligs? Maybe they just rot? I have no idea. Glad they praised you on your cleaning!

Thanks Chelsea, I don't know what it is but they're gonna have to do something! My appt is on Tuesday & something's gotta give! The smell is terrible is only that tooth so I know food must be getting under the band. I don't want to lose another tooth & I will not continue assaulting everyone I speak to.

Had my 1st adjustment today...went well but I forgot to take motrin before I went. Those little doors on the Damons are hell! They took the offending band off & will reapply it next appt but they said instead of cement they will bond it. The smell when he took it off!... & it was quite bloody but glad it's off. I got bold today & got hot pink ligs... I really like them. I got inspired by heybuckey's. Will post some pics. Got a new wire on top but the bottom is the same so I have still have my silver slash green wire cover (don't know correct name for it but it's the plastic that covers the wire where there are gaps between your teeth). Next appt is June 2nd so hopefully the algae colored plastic will come out then. Oh yeah the baking soda & peroxide did help with getting it back to near-silver. My ortho says I'm going to be starting elastics soon, so not looking forward to that. I got wire ties on my four bottom front teeth to close the gaps before he starts retracting them.
Like I said I will post some pics. I know I've been slack with them. Later folks. Have a good weekend. I have a family function so I'll have to hear "oh u got braces?", "when are u getting married?", "you need to have at least 1 child" & the best one is....."you're gaining weight." The joys of family get togethers. :-+ :-+ :-+

Congrats on your first adjustment! Your tops are pink and your bottoms are still green? hehehehe are you pledging a certain sorority?

Have fun at the family gathering. I mean what would a family gathering be without those questions...? One day youre going to find yourself on the other end of the table asking your young unmarried cousins the same thing. Then you are going to ask them to teach you 'all those dances the young people are doing these days..."
