Is it true that ibuprofen prolongs treatment? I use advil a lot....

No idea. But my ortho was complaining about her braces the other day (second time on, she didn't wear her retainers, let that be a lesson to you!) and I mentioned about red wine and she said she was having that..and a 'small pill' so I think you're probably relatively safe!

I miss "small pills"....sigh. If i take one, i sleep for a week, and my kids trash the house. I took a pamprin once and couldn't move for 8 hours.
I guess i'll ask my ortho on wednesday and let everyone know what he says.

Try Canker Cover. Canker Cover is a little tablet - you put it on top of the sore - it sticks to the sore and forms a kind of a bandage. Very effective.

The only two downsides - expensive and they can make it hard to talk (depending upon where they are). I tend to only use them at night.
