Gaps after genioplasty

Hi Fellow Jawbreakees,

I'm 9 weeks post op from upper jaw and genioplasty. My X-rays show the bone cuts on the jaw are fully healed but not on the chin. In fact I can feel the gaps where my chin was moved. My ortho said he was a little concered about the width of the gaps. Did anyone have a similar issue? How long did it take to heal? Does it heal?

I know it can take months for the numbness to go away but I thought the bone would have healed right along with the jaw.

I'm seeing the surgeon next week for a check up and gave him a heads up about it and he said he wasn't concerned.
