Had my first appointment since getting the Inman. No adjustment made as the dentist reckoned there is still more tension on the bow. I cant really feel it but I suppose Im just use to it now. Back in two weeks. Speaking much better.. except when slightly drunk.

I have had my Inman Aligner for 7 weeks now, and have an appointment to measure for my clear retainer in 2 weeks time. My dentist has told me I need to choose between a retainer, or having something bonded to the back of my teeth to keep them straight. Does anyone have any idea which one is best? Any pros/ cons you can let me know about?

I think its best to go with the clear night-time retainer. The danger with the bonded one is that it can come loose and a lot of people dont notice until their teeth have moved back.

Sounds like your treatment is going really fast, congrats! I am coming up to week 6 and thinking my projected time of 12 might be extended unless things speed up a bit.
I personally will probably go for the bonded option as i have a habit of clenching my teeth in my sleep and i've heard the plastic ones are quite thin so i may chew through it! I will have to keep an eye on it though as i also heard they can come unbonded and your teeth move back.

You can actually get both.

I routinely place a fixed splint and a clear tray.
Best of both worlds.

Hi All! I've been lurking for a while.

I get my Inman Aligner fitter today!

I've been reading about what to expect, and I'm excited and apprehensive. I'm getting married at the end of July, and I'm hoping that I'll be one of the lucky people that get a fast change.

At least I know what to expect now. I was planning on not wearing it whilst working, but I think I'm going to put up with the speech troubles in order to let it work faster.

I'll write again later once it's in!

With regards to final retainer, I went for the clear removable one. Once you get rid of your inman, the clear retainer feels like nothing! No speech problems, and they seem quite durable. I guess it's personal preference, but I only need to wear mine at night now, and I think it's preferable to having something constantly stuck to the back of your teeth. Everyone's different though!

I have it fitted. Same story, funny speech, tender teeth when is taken out or put in.
I have the little buttons to keep it in the right place.

I'm about 8 hours in! Off to sleep now, let's hope it doesn't keep me awake too much.

after many years of hiding my teeth in pictures i decided to go for the inman aligner.best discision i ever made.i started off with the upper and it took 16wks,the lower took slighty longer 2o weeks.i had a gap on either side of my front teeth and now they are closed and i know longer feel shy in front of the camera and can give a big smile.i paid £2,500 for both which included the retainers.anyone whose thinking of doing it dont hesitate.i love my teeth now.good luck.

How does everyone clean their aligner? Is it ok to use denture tablets?

I was told to use a tooth brush, (different to the one you use on your teeth!) and washing up liquid.

I use one of the sonic cleaners with retainer brite tablets and in between this a toothbrush and toothpaste.
Teeth are finally starting to move- and fast too!

Hi all, had my Inman allingner fitted on Tuesday afternoon for my bottom teeth!! Getting married end of august so hoping for quick results!! Is definately taking a bit of getting use to, my teeth have been quite painful at times and it really hurts putting it in and taking it out but hopefully that will soon ease off!!
Had top and bottom fixed braces when I was about 14 to correct my bite and my top teeth were starting to slightly turn in. Was given retainers after, clear for bottom and metal for top, but like most never assumed I would have to wear for life to keep them straight!! So 10 years down the line I'm fed up of my crowded bottom teeth do decided to go for the Inman!! Only problem us I am a nurse so I took it out for my short shift this week, talking is difficult with it in but once I am use to it I will try to wear to work to achieve the quick results I want!! The rest of the time when not at work I have worn praticallu alL day apart from taking it out to eat!!

I have brought some orthodontic wax from boots which us great, I'm sore under my tongue where part of the plastic is rubbing.
I am using shoreham smile clinic in west Sussex if anyone has any questions, free consultation and two weeks later my Inman had arrived!! As far as everyones questions about clear or bonded wire retainers my dentist has said he will use the bonded wire fixed behind the teeth. I had a clear plastic retainer years ago and i chewed it in my sleep which caused damage and many times I woke up and it was on the bed!!!

This forum is great, only discovered it this week!!

Hi I got my IA fitted on Thursday, ended up back at the dentist yesterday as I couldn't get it back in (fear) so had a practice whilst there and today it's been in for 11 hours, with a break for lunch and dinner. My top front four teeth are absolutely killing me and I've taken paracetamol each time I've taken the IA out. I'm hoping the tenderness eases in time as it's not nice and I must find a better way to insert and remove the IA. I have a blob of composite on one of my front teeth and one on the back to hold the IA in place. My treatment should only be 8 weeks, as too like many had a brace when younger but didn't get a retainer so one tooth moved forward. It's taken me 18 months to pluck up the courage to do this, I have a fear of the dentist and worry that my teeth are loose even though they're not, thank you to the medication I took for my initial appointment I am finally on the way to having straight teeth again.
