Onefastchick is now braced!

#1 Post by onefastchick »

Well, Im back from ortho, got braces on my uppers only and molar bands on top and bottom. Not sure how long til I get the lower brackets on, will have to see how fast my teeth move up top to make room.

Glad to have the spacers out but my teeth are so crowded the tech had a hell of a time getting the molar bands in still and I was much more sore on those teeth than I thought I was so it was not fun. All in all about an hour for 4 molar bands and brackets across the top. No real pain, the cement for the molar bands tastes awful but a quick swish of listerine and the taste was gone. Chose red and blue ligs for the 4th of July (thanks for all the advice on colors!)

Will write more on my braces story on that page and post some pics probably this evening after my kids are in bed but wanted to give you a quick update on me. I am doing well so far, I can tell these molar bands are gonna need wax and my snaggle tooth as well. Its only been an hour so I should probably go eat something before the soreness sets in :)

Congratulations to you!!! Welcome to the braced club! :D

I totally feel your pain re: molar bands. They had a devil of a time getting them in, and the ortho had to take over himself because his assistant just wasn't strong enough. I agree, too, about the cement - NASTY S**T!! :x

Can't wait to see your pics, and especially the red and blue ligs!

Congrats!! :D

Takes some adjusting at first but soon enough you'll be eating everything you used to (well - I still don't eat popcorn or hard tacos...argh!!)

I do... I think I eat most of what's on the "no-no list" (albeit, very slowly) with the exception of whole apples and corn on the cob.

Congratulations! It is worth every bit of soreness. After a few weeks, you'll forget the braces are even there!

Best of luck to you!

Thank you everyone! I am doing much better than I thought I would be at this point, a full 24 hours out and Im not in any pain. I feel pressure and its difficult to eat because the brackets scrape my cheeks/lips but no real tooth pain.
