where to look

#1 Post by Charisma »

hey. i was looking into gettin invisalign agess ago and someone told me about q clinic in london which for the whole package was only £1850. i know invisalign in quite expensive so i thought this was a really good deal. i looked into it and read so many complaints online from people that have used them. now i dont really want to use them as i dont want to waste my money on something that wont work. how do i find another place that does invisalign i dont really know how to find somewhere decent??

Hi, I am currently having Invisalign, am in London too. I recommend you go to a couple of consultations. Depending on how serious your problem is (is it just cosmetic or is your bite off for example?) I would recommend you go to an Orthodontist rather than a Dentist that offers Invisalign. I seen both, and have chosen an Ortho. This was the more expensive choice but I felt like he had much more clue than the Dentist, but my issue is a more complicated one.

I made the experience that usually you have to pay for consultations at Orthos, but get free ones at dentists, but don't let that scare you off, it might be a short time saving, but you might regret later not having seen an Ortho as well / instead.

The Invisalign web site (www.invisalign.com) has a doctor locator showing locations of providers having training. It looks like it has listings for the UK by postal code, which may help you.

My preference is an orthodontist. Mine has done things with Invisalign beyond just changing trays every two weeks and his skill is paying off. My case involves a lot of vertical correction and I'm not sure I would want to go with a regular dentist. If you have only minor cosmetic issues, this could be a possibility.

I'm in the US, but there seems to be similar skills with dentists and orthodontists.

I agree with the others and would definitely choose someone who is an ortho rather than simply a dentist. Also, I would also choose an ortho who is very experienced with Invisalign. The Invisalign website ranks their providers according to experience. (in australia where I live the most experienced are called Platinum elite providers)

Good Luck :)

Hi Charisma, not sure if you'll remember me.

Did you end up going for a Consultation with the Ortho in Cambridge (Hopvine House)?

I'm still without braces! (we talked in PM a couple of times)... LOL! But now have decided to go with traditional metal braces as I feel they will give me the results I am after. I have my first consultation for a fixed brace next week (their price is between £2000 and £2800) so not bad.

I hope you've managed to find somewhere you're happy with.
Braces: Metal fixed upper and lower
Estimated treatment time: 18-24 months
Braces Removed: August 2013 (after 33 months in braces)
Retainers: Upper & lower essix and lower bonded

I am in the US as well, however I strongly agree with everyone urging an ortho over a dentist. If possible, try to find a premier elite invisalign provider (my ortho is one of the few 1% who are awarded this status, and I am 150% confident in his ability to successfully treat my case). Personally I would give any provider who is much less expensive a long and hard consideration before allowing them to treat me. I am not saying they are not capable of giving you the results you desire, rather I am saying you want to make sure to compare apples to apples. I hope my reply helps make this big decision a little easier to consider. Best of luck!

I had my INVISALIGN done at Q Clinic. And they were really good. I’m very pleased with the result. Dr Anand comes highly recommended by the invisalign , he is like one of their platinum dentist. He deals with a lot patients each day. I have been nothing but happy with my results.

Stay away from the Q clinic in London. Align Technologies have stopped all invisalign shipments to the clinic. Q clinic owes a lot of money and all shipments have been freezed. Q clinic is an unethical practice. Don’t go anywhere near them! You have been warned. Contact Align Technologies customer service for further info. Ask for a refund immediately if you have made the mistake already! :(

I was also reading quite a few complaints about Q clinic. Some of them seemed so terrible that I kept looking for more information, just out of curiosity. What the most recent person said about Invisalign stopping shipments to Q clinic appears to be true. From what I've read, it seems that they weren't keeping up their end of the deal and so Invisalign cut them off until they pay up. I would stay well clear. Many people online have complained that they have had their treatment halted after impressions (and payment) and aren't getting their money back. I can't imagine they can stay in business much longer if this is the case.

Remember that these issues are with the Q clinic and not with Invisalign. You should be able to find many other ortho's in the area who can successfully use the technique.
