Hi Guys, I just got my braces on today, what an experience!
I tried to tough it out without wax but I realized after a few hours that that was total insanity so now I've covered my poky brackets but my tongue is still getting pretty scratched up from the edges of my teeth. When they prepared my teeth for the braces they did something they referred to as "etching" which left a rough surface on the front and edges of my teeth. I figure that was to help the brackets adhere to the front of the teeth but should they have fixed the edges, maybe polished them so that my tongue doesn't get scratched up? It's not just my tongue, one of the sharp edges of my top teeth is cutting my bottom lip when I talk
The surface of my teeth have some sort of rough texture on them now and some of my teeth do seem a little sharper. Is that the glue? Does this covering go away after a little while?
I had Turbo Stops placed on the back of my front two teeth when I first got my braces. They had to use the glue and eventually it went away. When my ortho took the Turbos off, he scraped as much of the glue off as he could and the rest went away over time. So I would think maybe the same would apply to the front of your teeth.
