Life goes on how quickly after surgery?

#1 Post by mitchejk »

Hi all,

I had surgery July 7 and the recovery is going well. I am a little nervous about a 13 hour drive I have to make 17 days (2 weeks and 3 days!!) after surgery. I'm moving and have to drive to the new home with 2 cats in the car. Is this crazy?

What were some of the things you had to do shortly after surgery that went well (or not) so I can get a shot of confidence from my forum friends?

Thanks,
J

What kind of surgery did you have???

It all depends!!!

Orthognathic surgery covers a wide spectrum of things.

I would say you are probably ok, 10 days after my surgery I had to take a 3-4 hour flight with a 2 hour layover to take another 2 hour flight then drive another 2 hours and I managed just fine on lots and lots of coffee.

Hi,

I had both top and bottom jaw moved forward. My recovery is going really well. I was fortunate enough to not be wired or splinted shut. I've already been allowed to add soft foods to my diet. While I'm still finishing up my anti-biotics and have the special mouthwash, I've stopped taking the hydrocodone pain killer and switched to just ibuprophen.

Thanks,
Jackie
