Before surgery, when you practice swallowing and moving your tongue it's different than post surgery. I found I didn't really think about my tongue or how it moved. I was so focused on the swelling and getting that down, taking my pain meds, sleeping, pumping in as much water and nutrients as I could that all my anxieties that I expected to be there were not.

I was given a nasal spray post op and although I used it for about 3 days I could not handle it. It felt as if it was burning the insides of my nose. My solution was a neti pot filled with warm salted water. It was the best thing I ever did. It felt so refreshing and cleared my nose. Before using it though please ensure you check with your surgeon. My surgeon said it was a great idea however reminded me that under no circumstances was I to blow my nose.
