My mouth was finally unwired! Felt so weird when he asked me to open, just feels really weak.

I am allowed soft food now, but can't open my mouth much. The splint is going to be in for another week then that comes out. I have elastics for now, just feels so weird trying to guide my bite into the splint.

Do you have to press quite hard to 'click' it into position?

I did, it felt horrible to have to press so hard.

Not really, at first I found it hard to get it in place. But I got it down now where it goes into place easily.

I can open my mouth wide enough to fit my figure in it.

Ok, it's official... today I am the luckiest girl in the world (of the braced). I went to my final oral surgeon appointment and he said everything is "perfect" and then l went to my ortho appointment and THE BRACES COME OFF IN TWO WEEKS! I'm still in a happy state of shock!!!

YAY!

Good news mitchejk :)

Hey everyone - I got my bands off yesterday. I was just wondering, is this aching feeling in my bottom jaw normal? My bottom jaw is really aching, and it's as if I have to consciously hold it in place. Yesterday it didn't ache, it's since I woke up this morning.

2nd question - my teeth still need to be aligned into their new places. Did anyone find that where their teeth had contact changed sometimes? (I don't have a lot of contact just yet, but that's because I had the op without my bottom teeth being totally straight, so I feel I can notice any change in contact!)

Other than that, I'm on soft chew, which is amazing. FOOD! Well... mushy food.

My teeth still need a lot of fixing and they polished some of my teeth so I wouldn't have such hard contact.

My jaw still aches, but only when I try and open it too much.

I had my splint taken out Wednesday, it was my last Oral Surgeon appointment, said everything is great. I go see my ortho for the first time post surgery on Wednesday.

I have some problems that I hope the braces can fix. Some teeth still don't touch and on my left side the teeth in the back. The bottom ones I can feel the top of them when I'm shutting my jaw. My top teeth over there are barely touching them as they are like bent to the side it seems like. I'm hoping that is fixed with the braces.

Other than that my top teeth go over my bottom now, I have no pain besides if I touch my left side with my finger, it is sore.

I am eating pretty much whatever now, though I can't really chew right yet as I still feel weak and weird. But I chew lightly.

Still numb inside, some feeling is returning.

I have my braces off! I am also cleared to eat anything I want... unless it hurts :-) I want to thank everyone for their support during this adventure. I don't think I would have come out of this as well if it wasn't for all the encouraging words and information I got from all of you! Good luck to all of you. I'm off to eat a steak!!

How is everyone doing?

I still have my braces on and I'm using a elastic band in the right side. My teeth are not touching enough quite yet  But hopefully they will come off soon :) I have the really nice people working on me, but sometimes I'd just like to be put out of my misery

Haha! I feel the same way! Things are going really well for me. I'm back to eating whatever I want and my braces might be coming off as soon as next month. I'm really in no hurry though. I want my teeth as perfect as possible before they come off.

Still have some residual swelling but it's really only noticeable to me. Every day it gets a little better but I'm definitely anxious to have a less round face!

Thanks for the update, VikingGirl. Keep us posted on how things are going for you and I'll try and do the same. :)

WiredRunner I know about the round face dilemma. Was asked for ID to buy a DVD with an age restriction.. Of 15 years. I was a bit shocked!

I can definitely sympathize there! I already looked young and my coworkers tell me I look even younger, ugh! I still ice occasionally but I know it's all just a waiting game at this point.

It was just so much easier the first couple of weeks, when you could almost see the difference each morning! Now I see where I'm swollen, I can feel that it's swollen, and everyone else asumes that this is the finished product.

Went to the orthodonist yesterday and first time they started moving my teeth again since surgery, she wanted to give me 2 months to heal before doing it again.

My teeth are so sore.... She really tightened the bottom teeth and then has this rubber band that is all over and really tight. Not to mention I have 1 or 2 teeth on my upper level that are still sore from the surgery.
