Seems this topic has gotten to be rather quiet, there has to be more than just us few in here whose due for surgery this month.

As for myself, I'm due in hospital tomorrow morning around 8am and then my surgery should be started around 12 noon all going well as there is someone else before me. Though the waiting is the annoying part and I am already starting to become a little nervous.

I am getting my lower jaw moved forward by 6mm and have been wearing braces on the top for just a little over 14 months now, so surgery has come sooner that I expected and my orthodontist expected :) I will try to check this first thing tomorrow morning and then update everyone again once I'm back home :)

I had my last appointment with the surgeon before my op yesterday, he said all systems go as the wafer/splint fits.

I have to book into hospital on Monday 6th Sept in the evening and them my op is first thing on Tuesday morning, last day at work today for a while.

Getting a little nervous but looking forward to it to if that makes sense.

All the best everyone.

Good luck both of you!

Stephie- you must be thrilled your surgery came around much quicker than you thought! :) Hope your wait tomorrow isn't too long before it's your turn- it is such a drag. I'd suggest keeping a book or something with you if you can- my wait was from 07:00 until about 13:00, and they'd taken all my stuff up to the ward as soon as I'd checked in because they thought I was going to be in straight away. It was a long, dull wait, to say the least

RickC- when I had SARME I had to be at the hospital the day before and I felt quite out of place being perfectly well and lounging around on a hospital bed!
The nerves will probably dissipate once you're there because you'll just be wishing tomorrow would come sooner- I know I was

chicago29- I'll wish you luck now too, though I'll no doubt write again closer to your day :D

Thank you all for the good luck :) Just managed to hop on here before I leave in awhile for the hospital. Nerves have only kicked in a little at moment really, more the wondering what I'm going to wake up looking like really and a bit excited how different my teeth are going to look too :)

Will update everyone again on Sunday evening if I can, if not then I defintely will on Monday.

Good luck with your surgery too RickC, I'm sure everything will go gteat for you and the last day at work is a good thing, I'd taken this week off as holidays from work so everything worked out just nicely.

Finally I am on the other side of my surgery and got home a little earlier so thought I would hop on here to let everyone know before I head off get some rest. Well surgery of lower jaw went really well though I did have a rough night in hospital last night really, woke up after surgery with drains in to drain the blood away but it worked quite well in it's own way but there is some swelling now too hopefully it doesn't get any worse though : / Though I am so happy that is done now and can't wait to see what my teeth are going to look like with braces off as they already are looking good :D

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow RickC, I hope everything for you goes as well as it did for me :) I was second ony the list on Saturday, was meant to be in theatre for 12 noon but the patient before me ended up being a little longer as she had Bimax surgery so I was only taken a 2.30 roughly.

I do have to say I did think getting my lower jaw advanced would have been a lot worse than this, just do kind of look like a chipmunk at moment really! and can't really open mouth that much because of the elstastic bands, boy those are bad at moment but hopefully a little better tomorrow :(

I've been back from surgery for a little over 2 hours now.
Feels weird at the mo being numb and having drains in.

I'll check back later.

On my iPhone by the way
