Thanks Ilehsal and againbrace!

It would be great to have healed up at least a bit, so I'm not on a soft-food diet during christmas :D . I'm so glad that this surgery finally seem to be approaching. I'm so ready to get it done. I'm sure I'll get anxious and nervous as it appraoches, but as for now, I just want the time to fly by until I'm ready for surgery.

Will definately keep you guys updated! I'm off for a week holiday in Stockholm, but I'll post pics of my teeth as soon as I get home.

So long :D

Hi lingualita :D I've been reading through your whole story, and I have to say whenever you start to feel down or at a plateau point with your braces and you think nothing is happening, take a look through your thread! The progress with your updates is simply amazing!

I have actually never personally known someone who had iBraces, or linguals, and I shied away from the idea because of the thought it would cut up my tongue or make it excessively hard to talk and eat lol. However, after reading your story, I guess we can get used to anything, right?

I'm glad you finally heard from the OS and have scheduled the surgery, from your ticker it looks like you only have about 2 months estimated left with treatment. Will look forward to your updates!

Hi Alimommy!

Thanks for reading my story, must have taken you quite some time, huh?

I feel down about the treatment from time to time, especially when I feel that things are slowing down. But it helps me to look through my thread just like you said. Knowing that I'm almost ready for surgery and that we are talking perhaps 4-5 months at the most before surgery makes me very happy. Also, thinking that I've had these braces on for almost 17 months, which means that I'm way over half, makes me happy about what I've accomplished. I know the worst is yet to come, but I'm starting to see the end of things now.

I just returned from an awesome trip to Stockholm with my friends, and I just looked at all the pictures we took. I think about that the pictures I will take next year, with my new face. I'm looking forward to smile as much as I can in pictures, not being afraid to show too much gum in photos, not feeling that my face is longer than the others etc. Next summer I guess my fears are having the retainer showing in pictures. Can't wait!

I still haven't managed to locate my camera, but I will exert some effort, and hopefully post pictures in the next couple of days. :D

I'm so happy with the progress. My extraction gaps are finally closed, at some points I thought it was never going to happen.

Next appointment is coming wednesday, not sure exactly what's going to happen, but I think we might take moulds of my teeth again to send to the oral surgeon who's going to operate on me sometime this fall, hopefully.

So long

:)

Your smile is looking AMAZING. It looks as though you have a brand new face- your whole profile has changed! Congratulations on your extraction gaps closing. It is the best feeling in the world. And your linguals are amazingly invisible- I bet you can't stop smiling!

You look amazing! I've followed your progress for a while now. I got my linguals in Sep last year, and am scheduled for surgery in September this year. Though I haven't posted until today, I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your story.

Thanks Thongs, I really appreciate it!

Good luck with your future treatment and surgery. You were braced after me and will be having surgery before me, I am so envious :D. Best of luck! What kind of surgery are you having? Will you need to switch to regular braces before surgery? I know i have to.

I'm having my lower jaw moved forward.. I was at my ortho last week having the xrays and moulds, and at the end of the appointment I asked about getting my lower braces on the outside as that was the original 'plan'. He told me they usually say that in the beginning, but he looked at my teeth and said there should be enough room to get in there keeping the linguals on. I was so glad to hear that. It took me weeks/months to get used to my braces, and having to get used to them again would be so hard. Plus I have a 2 year old to look after and I know she would be fascinated with them and want to touch them. I have 2 more appointments pre-surgery; 2nd September with the surgeon for the pre-surgical work-up, and 13th September with the Ortho, to get the buttons/hook things on for surgery. I'm just nervous as my daughter is sick, as is my partner, and I am madly using antibacterial wipes and soap every 20 minutes to keep myself from getting sick too. I don't think they can do the surgery if you're sick?? Just 3 and a half weeks to go and I'm counting down the days.

I have only told a few people I have braces, and only a select few know I am having surgery. My mouth is something I have been embarrassed about for so many years that it's even embarrassing talking to people about it. Thats why I paid extra for the linguals.

When do you find out about your surgery?

Hi!

You're getting closer then! That's great! Try to avoid getting sick. I'm pretty sure they check your blood to see if there is any infection in your body, and if there is your surgery will have to be postponed. I know I surely will be caucious the weeks before surgery, being sure not to get a cold, eating things I know I'm used to etc.

I don't know yet when I'll have my surgery. I have my next ortho appointment 11th. of September. He gave me an estimate of october sometime in april or may, but I really don't think thats going to happen. And I'm kinda bummed about that, because I hoped I would be able to have the surgery a good few weeks ahead of christmas, such that I would be able to take my exams as planned in january. But now it seems I might have to wait until after my exams. Well, I guess that might not be such a bad idea, but I really just want to get through this, you know?

I'm quite conscious about my braces myself, but I have to say it has improved tremendously since getting braces. Initially I was so embaressed to tell my friends about getting braces. Kind of stupid when I know I would be nothing but supportive if it were one of my friends getting braces. Now I feel the same thing about getting the surgery, kinde hesistant and embaressed to tell my friends. I have told quite a lot of my closest, but there is still a few left which I will have to "inform" before I get the surgery. I just find it hard to talk about, so I guess it's okay that I still got some time left :)

Are you planning to not tell people, or is it just that you just haven't gotten to dot it yet? Have you got any image of how subtle your changes will be?

How are your nerves as you're getting closer? Even though I'm still calm, I'm just so scared that I'll freak out right before surgery. Well, let's just hope that won't happen.

So great you can keep your braces on! That'll save you both money and distress!

Best of luck to you the coming weeks!! And keep us updated on how you're doing.

Just re read your recent posts!

Poor you, still waiting for a date for your surgery :( Hopefully you will get some news at your next appointment...at least it would help to know what you're working towards.

I've been a bit 'down' with slow progress, which is why I haven't been on here in ages...really had enough now and just want the treatment finished, so understand your feelings.

Lynne, I've thought about you!!

Thanks for reading through my story again :) .

I'm really satisfied with my progress, its just that I just want to have this surgery done. I'm in a good period about it now though, thinking I'll be ready when I'll be ready, and since there is nothing I can do to make it happen faster, there is no reason for me to worry. Other days I'm so frustrated, and feel like it's just boing postponed and postponed.

How are your teeth doing? Any ideas of how much time you have left? I recall you mentioned you were worried that you might look sunken in after extractions, how are you feeling regarding that these days?

Nice to have you back, and best of luck on your continuing treatment!

Will keep you updated, next adjustment in 2 weeks.

Things are finally happening!!

Today I had an adjustment, just the usual, changed my lower wire, and adjusted a few of the brackets.

However, at my next appointment, 6th of october, they will take moulds of my teeth they will send to the hospital for surgery. And then I have my last adjustment with my ortho (before surgery), at octobre 23rd. Things are finally happening!

So far I only feel excited, just want to get this overwith :D
