Well, Wednesday is the big day. DrBlur, best of luck to you. I'm sure you'll probably be on here posting before I will.

I had my pre-op appointment today, and boy was it long! All sorts of models, xrays, measurements, etc. It is a pain, but you get some level of comfort knowing these procedures are so precisely planned.

I'll be having a 1-piece LeFort I with 3 to 4 mm impaction, and a BSSO. I won't know the exact movements until the morning of surgery, as my surgeon performs the mock surgery tonight. I also will decide Wednesday morning whether or not to have a Genioplasty. My surgeon is working it up both ways, and will show me projections with and without the genio. I'm hoping I don't need it (the less cutting the better!), but if I do feel it will help with appearance than by all means I'll get it done now.

Anyway, thanks for everybody's support since I've joined this board. It is without a doubt I know I would have never gotten this far without the support I've gotten from this group of people (past and present). I can't believe that 2 years and 3 months ago, I committed to having surgery and braces. In all honesty the time has flown. Surgery #1 was not easy, and I know Surgery #2 won't be either. But, all of you people on this message board will help me through it!

I will post as soon as I can, but I am not sure if I'll be able to until the weekend.

DrBlur, and other September buddies...Best of luck to you and I'll see you all on the other side!!!

Best Regards
Chicago29

Hey Chicago, best of luck, hope it went ok and let us know how it went. My surgery was yesterday and it went well, although I'm sore and VERY swollen. Today is not bad...yesterday was misery! I have a follow up with the surgeon this afternoon and one with the ortho next week. I do have a HUGE space in my front teeth already!

Seems everyone has went through that "bad day" apart from me, or maybe I was just lucky enough to always have someone around to try keep me happy. Boyfriend is great at doing that it seems :D

Still hating my elstatic bands on teeth at moment, but managed to get mushy food into myself the past day or so. Scrambled egg and beans never tasted so good as it did yesterday  Mashed potatoes and gravy tastes good too.

My swelling is nearly totally gone, just a little bit around where the stitches are it seems but bruising has gone too so I'm happy about that. Look more normal now and my front teeth meet each other so I'm :D

DrBlur, I'm sorry to hear yesterday was a misery for you, but it does get better and should do every day from now onwards. As for your space in front teeth I'm sure your ortho will close that eventually. I have gaps too but they are mainly in the sides where you can't notice them much.

I'm alive. Still in hospital due to blood loss and breathing difficulty. May be discharged later today or tomorrow AM. Right now I think the only numbness is under my right eye. No lip or chin numbness, which even shocked my OS! It has NOT been easy as my nose is totally blocked with crusted blood, and being banded totally shut is challenging. I'll post more when I'm home...thanks for everybody's continued support!

Seems to be that things are always getting better really. Eating my mushy food now gotten used to mashed potato and scrambled eggs. Can now bite into small pieces of chocolate with my front teeth which I've never been able to do before :)

First appointment since surgery with my orthodontist on Thursday, so I'm looking forward to that now and hoping he's as happy as me at moment. Only thing I'm still hating though is these elastic bands, though they are looser now than they were before.

Today is Day 4. I think the swelling has peaked, and the bruising is now setting in. It's still impossible to breathe, as both nostrils are completely packed with blood.

I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow morning and I get the bands off (which at this point may be wires because they don't budge). I'll be put into more flexible bands tomorrow, which should help. I hope we can clean the nose out some, but I'm skeptical he's gonna want to interfere with the clot. Both feel like they're still oozing some, but if so all it does is collect more and make more of a mess in there.

Anyway, I know I'm smack in the middle of the worst days. I'm hoping I can make the turn on or before Wednesday.

I'll keep the thread updated but I continue to ask for everybody's thoughts to get through this!
