Movement is making me nervous!

I've had my braces on for a little over a week now, and have already seen some movement! However, it is not movement I was anticipating. Instead, my two front teeth (central incisors), which were pretty well aligned with the rest of my top row, have now shifted behind my lateral incisors, so that my teeth feel aligned down the side, then take a dip back with my two front teeth, then align back out on the other side! My ortho is trying to fix my overbite before putting on the bottom brackets, and I know she is qualified, but having my teeth shift this direction is freaking me out a bit! Has anyone else gotten a little scared/nervous when their teeth began moving??

I'm right there with you. My front teeth were perfectly straight pre-braces and now they are NOT. Stuff is shifting all over the place, and I'm a nervous mess. I asked about it and the Dr. seems to thing that all will shift around properly in the end. I have my first adjustment next Monday, so we'll see what he says at that point. I think I'll end up being a high maintenance patient because I get anxious about the little things, LOL!

Right! I am so high maintenance as well. I want to know everything that is happening with my teeth. I could easily call the ortho's office everyday with a new question, but something tells me they wouldn't appreciate that too much, haha. My first adjustment is not until November...not sure if I can make it that long without a couple phone calls to the office, especially if my teeth continue their backwards trajectory. dont worry, 3 days after braces i was back in the ortho surgery panicking about movement, he basically told me that i was fussing over nothing and its normal to see weird movement - in a nice polite way of course! I felt stupid after that wasting his time!

I had braces as my 2 front teeth had a gap and one was crooked, but now i have extra gaps in the next teeth along - hopefully its a case of getting worse before better!

I panic daily about movement, my husband is fed up of me showing him my teeth every 5 miins and asking if he thinks its normal!!

I now look forward to my dental appointments - something that has never happened in my previous 30 years of life!

My beautiful front teeth looked kind of sideways to me last week but I stopped thinking about it and couldn't tell you if they are still moving in an odd manner. You must have faith in your doctor, I guess. I am going to the same orthodontist who made my son's smile perfect so I completely trust him. Heck, he's the doc to almost everyone I know! He inspired my son's desire to become an orthodontist. (year two of undergrad studies in process)
