Readjusting smile after getting implants

#1 Post by wearetheborg »

Had braces, after that two missing teeth gaps in top front (lateral incisors). I got implants put in 5 months ago; and after that to promote healing, I decided to not wear my partial dentures. In this period, I learned to not reveal my top teeth when giving a smile.

I got the crowns put in a couple weeks back, and everytime I smile, I still hide the teeth, and a voice goes off in my head "you can smile fully you doofus" :o

I actually a bit stressed out ---
will the implants hold?
Will the gums grow?
Will the new retainers (made at my dentist, not an ortho) hold my teeth?

I delayed getting the implants(had moved twice after my braces were off). In that period, the roots of my two teeth adjacent to one of my implants had moved, and implants were tricky (only 4mm space between adjacent teeth roots). The surgeon decided to put in 3.3 mm implant during the surgery. I was freaked out that the implant procedure might have damaged the roots of the adjacent teeth.

So much stress...
