I found it before getting braced, about a month. I'm like the others who want to get all the info beforehand. I like to know what I'm in for and try to be prepared so this site helped me not chicken out, which I thought about several times. I love all the information as well as the support and knowing that I'm not alone in what I'm experiencing.

I found this site between the time that I had my last consult and the time I was braced. I have had several periods of getting consults then "chickening out" over past 20 years. It finally panned out this way: I saved money in a HSA, then went for a consult (again) but didn't actually plop the money down until I did more research and some lurking on this site. I think this site was instumental in my final success at getting the braces. I think the support and understanding of other adults was what helped me finally go through with it. I don't personally know anyone in their 40's going through this brace journey so I often head to this site so I don't feel alone. Thanks to everyone on this site I have no regrets so far!

I first found this website in late 2004, asked a couple of questions and almost talked myself into having braces, got as far as ringing my future orthodontist for a consultation. The number was engaged so I chickened out and decided I must be mad to think about doing braces anyway!!

Fast forward to 2008, I started thinking about sorting out my teeth and started using this website again. Now I've been free of braces for nearly 3 months - all sorted at 55!

I found this site before making my initial appointments. The site definately was a huge factor in making my decision to get braces at the tender age of 49. I'm very grateful for the support and information generated from this site.

About 12 months in when things were getting a little tricky, all the major movements were done and i was getting majorly frustrated that my teeth were slow to move. Was so happy to find the forum, really gave me a boost!

About a week after. I was looking for how braces worked, and was bummed to see the helpful hints of brace day, after I already suffered through it. Chapstick would've been real nice that day! l

I found this site the day I got braces...I came home in tears and through blurry eyes googled adult braces support or something like that and it really helped me get through that day...almost everyone had the same reaction of "oh my gosh, what have I done!".

I wish I had found it before, I guess I was thinking braces would be no big deal, but the reality was so much more than I could handle that day...and I still use it for support 5 months later.
