The only times I regret having braces is when I have to have my picture taken or when I eat something that gets wrapped around the wire. I have to remind myself constantly that it is impolite to put your fingers in your mouth while eating to dig out food. :soremouth:

I've disliked my teeth since I was a kid at I know that I am blessed to be able to get braces at 42. It will be worth it when I am done and I am looking forward to that day. Overall, my experience hasn't been bad. The pain is minimal, the last adjustment didn't hurt at all.

I hope that as time goes on, you will notice the pain less and begin to look forward to your life after braces, with beautiful straight teeth and a killer smile!

Haha I do this ALL the time! I can't help it, really. I always tell my friends/family/whoever I'm around that I'm sorry, it's just reflex, and they just laugh at me and say it's okay!

I do it all the time.. especially around family. I know it's probably weird looking and even gross, but I can't stand having food in my teeth!!!

I can totally relate- after the first week I was so happy I got my braces and didn't mind them at all. Now 3 months in and I can't wait for this to be over! My adjustments are sooo painful ( I've been taking 1 advil- I think I'm going to have to up it to 2) as they try to close my extraction gaps. I had such a bad cut in my mouth from a wire poking I could barely talk at work one day, and I'm a teacher so I talk alot. I HATE smiling in pictures, I used to take my camera everywhere but now I never do because I don't want any pictures of me! I still think it will be worth it in the long run, but its going to be a long ride. But what you are going through is pretty common, so hang in there!
