Ok day 2 with damon braces clear on top but I also have bite turbos & I'm sooooo hungry for real food! I swallowed beans for dinner last night and it'll be oatmeal for breakfast. Boy I wish I could chew some bacon tho :cry:

hey rlpaige.
hows it going? Im 5 weeks in with mine. I feel like a pro now ha ha. I havent had any probs really. have had two adjustmetns with no probs and minimal pain (was supposed to be having Damons but for some reason he must have decided to put me in standard ceramics, very happy tho). I am 29. i was the same as you, wanted them for so long and was sooooo excited. I still am and like someone else said, im obsessed with teeth, no just my own but everyone elses! Keep boring all my friends and family about how much my teeth are moving...thank god for this forum.

I'm excited...and i'm 46. I had 4 teeth extracted on the 21 Sep. I'll get my braces on the 5 October. Any Suggestions! What type of braces? What to do before I get them placed on?

Id highly reccomend ceramic conventional braces. Im really pleased with mine. I have a white arch wire and clear ligatures. Its true taht the ligs do stain, but you get them changed each time you go and even when they're stained a bit its not really bad. I think clear Damon ones have a tiny metal bit inside? i could be wrong

Hi I love the look of my Damon clear braces! The brackets are small and the clear brackets on top look great! And yes I am now weirdly obsessed with my teeth & everyone elses. I'm also obsessed with flossing & brushing too. I don't wanna stain my clear brackets in anyway. :lol: my main problem is the bite turbos I didn't know I'd be stuck with these until my next appt and since I have Damons my next appt is December 1st! I believe I will be a size 2 by then since pudding has become my easiest thing to swallow. I barely swallowed my oatmeal all my teeth started throbbing & aching. I go to church soon it'll be interesting to see their reaction since I sing in the choir :x

Bite turbo help!

Ok it's been 4 days & the braces are fine but these bite turbos on my back teeth are making me irritable since there's no hope of me chewing until December! Does anyone else have bite turbos? :?

I never heard about a bite wafer either, i'll ask my Ortho about it. I get my braces on wed!!

Interesting enough i wasn't going to tell anyone at work either but i finally broke down on Friday and told people. Everyone was really supportive... although i did notice guys liked to tell braces horror stories more than the gals hahaha.

I'm already boring my friends and family with braces stories and i don't even have them yet :roll: :roll:

vak103, all braces are the same price where i go. But i know that most places differ depending on the brace you chose and im most cases damon are more expensive than conventional ones. Damons dont have the little elastics so they dont stain.

The bite wafers are just a thin piece of softish plastic to chew on, it sits between your upper and lower teeth. The first few days after my braces were put on it was a life saver, I chewed on that thing all the time until I got my bigger wire. That first "baby wire" is a killer.
