Repositioning brackets

#1 Post by ceramicmouth »

17 months into treatment now. Ortho said he's going to reposition brackets on my incisors in 8 weeks (next visit). No explanation, although they probably need to be brought down a bit as their above all other teeth and a bit on the pointy side.

Anyone else had brackets repositioned this far into treatment? Also, 10 weeks between my last appointment and 8 this time...........is that a bit excessive? I've noticed no movement in the last 3 months having had nearly constant movement over the first 14 months......

Aah well!

Maybe that is why he is repositioning brackets.

I had about 4 brackets repositioned about halfway though my 33 month treatment. As for my appointment intervals, mine were 8-10 weeks apart until I got to the very end. Don't get too discourage if you don't see moment. You won't always, but that doesn't mean things aren't progressing. The beginning of treatment is always the most exciting b/c we can see a lot of changes happening. The latter part of treatment is, unfortunately, pretty boring.

I could be wrong but i have got the impression the initial phase is where you'll see the main changes and the latter stage is changing more under gum line and getting the roots into the new position.

Many thanks for the replies .

I suppose two things are vital during orthodontic treatment. Trusting your orthodontist and paitence.

and flossing and eating the correct food and keeping you appointments........................
