Just under 4 weeks til surgery it's coming up really fast I'm starting to get nervous. I have organised the following week off work as suggested by the surgeon. Plus a good excuse not to answer phones for a week haha

Good Luck with your surgery! I had surgery 4 weeks ago to have a baby tooth pulled & a chain hooked to my permanent tooth to hopefully pull it down.

Well since I am going in for my extractions tomorrow, I thought i had better put my BEFORE PHOTOS on :D

Pic 1 - This is my better side that I try to use in photos, as it doesnt look as bad from far away. You can see my little baby canine in this
Image

Pic 2 – This is my crappy side. Sometimes in photos it actually looks like I have a tooth missing, but it is just hiding. My canine at the front doesnt look as small as the other side. But not for much longer...
Image

Pic 3 - One side of my mouth definately looks more crowded than the other.
Image

Pic 4 - Bottom of mouth, I apologise my teeth look a bit yellow in this pic.
Image

Pic 5 - Full mouth shot. This was actually quite difficult to take, i usually try and keep my mouth as closed as possible. So it was weird to use muscles I dont really use.
Image

I will take some more photos once all the swelling goes done and sites have healed. If they dont look to gross!!

I am not really nervous yet, but we'll see how it goes when im trying to go to sleep tonite.

Wish me luck :lol

**Sorry my first pic is so big I couldnt get it to change :x

Congrats on taking the plunge! I had 4 premolars extracted for braces. Had all 4 wisdom teeth surgically removed when I was 19. It was the worst part of my braces journey so far (I really hate needles)...hehe. All the best tomorrow!

Well.... 3 days from op and it stills feels as though I have been hit in the mouth with a baseball bat! But I have other things to think about  my fiancé is in hospital and looks like he will be for a couple of days. So now I have to nurse him back to health. I feel bad cause I know how much he still wants me to feel better.
I have had an emergency appt scheduled with the ortho tomorrow cause my two adult canines are in bad spots! Wish me well...

Had my appt today and he put the brackets on my exposed teeth, he didn't say anything bad about where they are. So I suppose that's good.
Feeling a bit sorer after it though, he was pushing on my front teeth so they are a bit sensitive. And the roof of my mouth is real sore so it's a bit harder to talk again.
On a more positive note looks like *fingers crossed* the fiance can come home tomoro arvo! Yay
Well hopefully I can get a bit more healed up before my spacers appt next Wednesday!

Hi JessieJ,

Just thought I'd stop by and say hi

I see you're soon to be braced, well, in less than a week! :D

I have my braces fitted tomorrow and I still have my spacers in, they have been in for 7 days so far and they have caused me no issues at all. I hardly even know they are there, apart from when I eat and brush. Food tends to get stuck around them and not flossing those teeth is driving me insane! My mouth feels unclean because of it... But other than that, they have been a breeze.

Good luck for next week :)
Braces: Metal fixed upper and lower
Estimated treatment time: 18-24 months
Braces Removed: August 2013 (after 33 months in braces)
Retainers: Upper & lower essix and lower bonded

Hi Chrystal, thanks for your comment.

You have a few more spacers in than me, I only have 4. Due to the fact I had my four second premolars out. So far so good and am hoping to be like you and have no pain.

Good luck for tomorrow and I'll have to watch your progress since we're close.

I had my follow up surgeon appt after spacers went in so he could check everything. He said all looking good! Be also had a new addition... Braces fitted since my op. I think this is great and he reassured me that he was only sore for a couple of days before he forgot they were there.

I will post some more pics before braces day... Aka 6 sleeps to go

Well the braces went on today. Took about 50 minutes and wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The glue they used at the start for the back teeth was really bad, very very bitter and was glad when I could rinse my mouth.

So I though I better post some pics post up and with the lastest addition.

Sorry about my first pic being so big, can't seem to change. Also you will note I am clearly not a photographer.

As you can see at this stage there is nothing attached to my adult canines to bring them down. Suppose we need to make some room for this.

My next appointment is booked for Jan 12, so here's hoping for movement. ANY movement.

Hey luchababe! Thanks for your comment, I'm just a bit disappointed cause they look a bit yellow in the pics  but no matter how many times I tried retaking the pic I think it just looked worse haha
I will have to check out your story now :D

Didn't think it would be so soon but.... I got my first comment about looking young. I was asked by a shop assistant if I had finished school, i haven't been in school for 5 years so I thought it was quite funny. I asked her if it was because the braces hahah she denied it but I think it was!!
Still hard to chew but since surgery have lost 5kgs so that's a bonus, no doubt it will come back :?
Teeth are feeling tight and I can't floss the front bottoms so that's a sign ??
