littleviolets story (with photos)
Hi everyone I'm a 20 year old girl from Australia. I've always been self conscious of my smile and I'm finally on my way to doing something about it! I first went to see an orthodontist at 12 years old, he told my mum that I would need lower jaw surgery to fix my overbite and she said no way! she thought it was too traumatic for a 12 year old. Anyway 8 years on and I have decided that getting my teeth fixed is something that is really important to me, and I'm starting the treatment! I've had my moulds, photos and x-rays done and I had an appointment with my jaw surgeon yesterday. He just explained everything to me and he sounded very confident that I will get a good result at the end of it. I have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at least 9 months before the jaw surgery, not looking forward to it! but I've booked it in for February. I've just got to find out when I can get my braces on now, my surgeon said it doesn't matter if I get them on before or after getting my wisdom teeth out. So hopefully I can get them on soon! I want to get this process happening I'm quite nervous about the pain of it all. But I know it will be worth it in the end!
Anyway here are some photo's of how my teeth look at the moment (sorry about the quality, I took them on my phone)

The fist two are for preperation, I have to have spacers then I get the braces on the 10th of dec, only a month away! and then a follow up appointemnt to see how im going. Im quite nervous now that it's all going ahead! I hope it's dosn't hurt too much lol but I know it will be worth it in the end.

Re: littleviolets story (with photos)
Yay only a few more days untill im fully braced im really exited haha
I've had my molar bands on since thursday. No pain from them, just a bit of rubbing on my cheeks (the wax is great though)
I decided on the clear braces. My ortho said they wont stain at all as they dont use the elastics to bind the archwire in place. So I guess im getting the new damon type
I will post some pictures when I get my braces on
I've been stocking up on soft foods today

They are on!
my mouth feels soo weird and bulky! and I can't bite down properly because I have bite turbos on the back of my top front teeth so I don't break the bottom braces (I don't know how im going to eat ). I haven't felt any pain yet. But I can feel the tightening.
Getting them on wasn't too bad, I didn't like holding my mouth open that long though. The thing holding it open pinched my cheeks a bit and the stuff they put on my teeth to condition them tasted soo bad! so did the glue!

Hi littleviolet
I hear congratulations are in order! Now you're on your way to that dream smile that you always wished for. I hope you get used to your new braces quickly. Hmm...bite turbos...I didn't have them, but I've read how they suck. I don't know why my ortho didn't put them on me -- I bite down on my lower brackets a lot. I hope the eating part goes well for ya. Take it easy...&...Good Luck!

Re: littleviolets story (with photos)
It's my 4th day in Braces today & I think im going pretty well
I had a really busy weekend! I had a friends birthday drinks on friday night, worked all day saturday, went out saturday night, went to the beach on sunday, then had another friends birthday dinner Sunday night (I had spicy thai pumpkin soup and pavlova for desert). The braces didn't really stop me from enjoying myself I was a little self conscious to start with but I soon got over it as I know braces are better then crooked teeth as it shows im fixing them everyone was really supportive aswell and I had some good convos with other people who have had braces before. The pain hasn't been too bad i've only had to take painkillers 3 times and i haven't used any wax. I've even managed to eat some fish and chips and a chicken wrap (with a knife and fork) it was painfull and I had to mash the food up a bit with my tounge but I didn't care because I was starving haha. But apart from that i've mainly been eating really soft food.
Im always looking at my teeth in the mirror trying to see if they have started to move I think they have a little bit. I can definitely feel them moving!
The only thing im having trouble with is flossing, but im sure i'll get the hang of it soon!

I've had my braces for 16 days now and so far so good haven't really had any problems other then a little pain. Im eating fine, just a little slower then I used to lol. I went to see my ortho on day 10 of braces for a check up, they wanted to see if I was caring for my teeth properly and they said im doing a great job with flossing and brushing I brush my teeth after every meal because my braces always get full of food! lol
Im very happy with my ceramics, you can hardley see them in photos unless it's a close up. Everyone thats seen them say they look really good.
I have my first wire change on the 24th of Janurary, im looking forward to it & I hope they can take my bite turbos out at that appointemt! I have a little problem though, I have a filling replacement booked in for the same date!! my teeth are going to be sore that day lol.
heres a few pictures of my teeth from today.
