Loose/Wobbly Teeth?

#1 Post by Kittykins »

Anybody else get the feeling their teeth are loose, yet when you go to check to see, they don't move? It's really strange and curious if anybody else has/had this strange feeling. Infact does this mean they are on the move? :o

Its all part of the process, the ligaments that hold the teeth are being stretched which gives the wobbly feel, once braces are off they will tighten up again. Dont worry

Oh yes! I'm right in the wobbly stage! Still can't bite into anything, flossing can feel REALLY weird sometimes, and when I accidentally graze my top front teeth against my bottom I have to stop what I'm doing and calm down, it feels so strange.

Same here with the phantom wobbly teeth. Your teeth move because when force is put on them, some biological process kicks in and starts removing and adding bone where necessary to push your tooth into its new position. So during movement the tooth will have a little bit more room to move around in than normal, and that is why it feels loose.

If anyone is interested in the biological process (as I was before I started treatment - I was comforted when I understood more about it happened!) do a search online, there is loads of information out there.

One of my front teeth was clicking the other night. I'd push on it with my tongue and it would click and shift a little. Very entertaining. The poor things are probably wondering what the heck is happening to them...42 years of stability and now this! ;)

It is interesting stuff. I remember in Anatomy and physiology class the teacher talked about bone remodeling. Never knew it applied to what is happening in the brace process. A&P fascinates me anyway so maybe that is why I get all interested in stuff like this.
