I'm so sorry to hear, I was dreading that too but I was fortunate.

What happens if they leave it, does your body just get rid of it over time? Hope everything is ok for you, not long until you get your wire in now then the journey begins. I think the wire will make things more comfortable for you too...

Just a quick update,

First adjustment on Thursday, snow is terrible but i'll make it even if I have to walk. My extractions have given me zero pain and seem to be over the initial healing period, now I'm hoping to see some real movement. I'm pretty sure my canine has started to rotate correctly and the incisor has moved on one side too.

Does anyone have any idea how long the extraction gaps will take to close? I had overcrowding so I don't think I need the whole 7mm (guesstimate) to close. So perhaps if my canine moves into the space, it will only be 3-4mm at most.

Can teeth move into the gaps immediately or do the gums/bone need to heal fully first?

Again really happy with my linguals, speech sill not 100% but who cares...

If they leave it in I guess it just stays there & my teeth will move around it.
I don't like the idea of it being left in & would much rather have it cut out I think.

You're so lucky i've been on painkillers every day since I had them out. Today so far seems to be ok & I struggled through yesterday without any although they was giving me some right jip earlier on in the day. Touch wood i'm over it now tho. Ready for the pain from my adjustment & wire fitting 2moz wahooo ha ha

I agree with LuLu, upper linguals were nothing in comparasion to the pain my ceramics caused. Getting started on closeing up my extractions on jan 25th, TADs and some sort of elastic, oh but before that adjustment. Let us know how yours goes.

I too have lingual uppers and ceramic lowers.

I only got my ceramics on about 36 hours ago and I am in more pain than I was in with the linguals! I'm using that brace relief cream on my gums which helps me sleep relatively pain free, only drawback is the numbing content causes saliva to produce so it's not so good for work. I take a painkiller every so often too. I never expected ceramics to hurt so much and for so long. I know it eventually settles, just like linguals feel less sharp over time (no need for wax anymore) I am just hanging for that moment the tenderness fades away.

Anyway, it's good to see more people with the same braces combination and treatment as myself

Ok so first adjustment down, wow the pain!

I had 1 elastic fitted to pull my canine backwards, and it feels like the force being used is much greater than the force generated by the brace itself.

Also had my tooth next to my extraction "built up" which now means I don't look like a hillbilly.

Back on the ibuprofen due to this elastic business. One down, god knows how many to go!

Actually on closer inspection it looks like a powerchain, probably explains the pain!

Hello friends! I have had lower ceramics on for 6 weeks and the movement so far is incredible. I didn't think I would see so much change SO fast! I am eagerly awaiting my lingual braces on the top. My biggest fear as well is the speech factor. Does anyone have the Ormo stb lingual braces? That is what I am getting, they have a small profile so I wonder if that does help. So far no one at work has noticed my ceramic braces on the bottom, and I would like to keep it that way.

I have a question for anyone who can answer - how do you floss your top set of linguals? Obviously you can't see the back of your teeth so how have you managed that step in the maintanance process?
