ahhh I don't know if i've broken my wire!!!!!

I think I've broken my wire! I was eating a cracker & I felt something ping but I've got these stupid plastic / rubbery things covering my extraction gaps (where I think the wire pinged) so can't see if I have.

Guess I'll have to take a visit to see my ortho just in case. Doubt they'll get me in until after the weekend. Jeeeez is this going to hold my treatment back loads?

Lu Lu, i am the breaking queen! 4 times in 5 weeks. Relax its no biggie. It will take 2 minutes for the ortho to fix. Ive always just rung up and seen anyone that was there, not just my ortho.
It wont slow down your time at all. Its just a drag having to go to the ortho for it everytime it happens (well in my case anyway)

I don't think it's broken now but i'm getting it checked anyway. Something defo popped in my mouth twice & I felt the pressure change & felt it ping. They're getting me in on Weds to have a look.
I can't afford to risk it being out of place my next adjustment isn't for another 5 weeks so if something is wrong it'd slow things down.

Jeeeeez 4 times in 5 weeks That's nearly every week that's not good. Surely that would be slowing things down?

I eat like an animal & always have done. Love my food too much to slow down & take it easy (maybe I should after this incident haha)

What brand of lingual have you got? I wonder if the wires are different for different brands

I had the exact same incident right after I got mine fitted if you remember, mine pinged twice and it was broken. So I would guess yours in broken too, but like Shysmile said it's a 2 minute job to fix so don't worry.

How are you finding chewing? I'm ok with my back molars but front teeth cannot chew bread, the pain is too much. I have seen so much movement already and expect them to straighten pretty quickly now.

Hope things are ok apart from this minor setback

It must be the same as yours then .... mine pinged twice & it defo didn't feel right. I jumped out of my seat haha. My boyfriends had a look though & he says the wire is still attached to my bracket. It doesn't feel right when I press it down with my finger though, feels quite flexible. Not loose though. Won't hurt to get it checked. Put my mind at rest.

Getting on fine. Although my speech hasn't flowed as easily this last week but I did have an adjustment last week & wonder if it's because of that. Got that mouth full of metal sound again lol. How about you?

Chewing has been ok although the last couple of nights it hasn't been that easy but again might be because of my adjustment. I just chomp & suck haha!!!

I am struggling to bite into stuff but I do it anyway (love my food) shouldn't of really bit into my cheese biscuit & cheese might not have broken it then lol. When I first had them fitted & tightened WOW the pain in those front teeth was immense no way could I have done it.

I couldn't see it, by definitely felt the ping and change in pressure.

I'd just get it checked if I was you, noticed any movement yet?

My teeth are pap they are hardly moving. I think my treatment time is going to be more like 2+ years rather than 18-24 months.

My uppers are starting to move ever so slowly not greatly. Got a very small black hole / gap appearing where a tooth that overlapped is starting to straighten.

Just thought i'd update.

I went & had my wire checked today & I didn't break it whoops lol. God knows what happened then & what I felt

Got my wire trimmed though (having a right mare & have throughout treatment so far - just not enough room in my mouth) so wasn't a wasted journey I guess

Hey lulu, good to hear your wire is still intact.

I had a similar scare about two weeks ago, chewing something (I forget what) and I suddenly feel something sharp and sticking out near the back of my lower arch. I could heard the sound of metal on enamel too so knew something was wrong. Went to the mirror and it was just one of those tiny wires wrapped around the brackets running between two adjacent teeth. Not sure what it's purpose is but I've got a few of them amongst the brackets, ligatures, elastics and archwire. 5 minute job for my ortho to put a new one on.

I seriously doubt you could break the main archwire from eating a bikkie though, mine feels bloody strong if I press on the section running across my extraction gaps, and that's the longest unsupported length too.

Thank godness im having all wires changed next monday. I need thicker strongers wires! How are you going? Cant wait to see photos!

Have you had much movement?

Nothing much to report here really. My teeth are moving but not a great heap. Wished they'd move quicker. Nothing has changed since my last lot of pics I don't think. I'll post some more when they start to look pretty.
