hi, i was about the end of my treatment, and it was supposed to be taken out in dec, but i didnt cos my upper set of teeth seems to be protruding.
however, my dentist said, whats most important is the bite. so she says this happened probably due to the different shape of teeth.
so anyway she tried to curve the arch wire so that it will move, but in the end it didnt.
and at that point of time, my upper wire has a bend somewhere, however, when she changed the archwire to curve it, she forgot to bend it.
so... now my upper set of teeth looks slanted..
slanted jaw?

Re: slanted jaw?
Ok, yes one side looks lower than the other, but are you sure it wasn't like that to begin with? We get so caught up with our teeth that sometimes we notice new things which were there all along but weren't as noticeable before our obsession with teeth. Comparing the top pic and bottom pic, the same side looks lower in both pics. The question is, how badly does it bother you? Is it worth prolonging treatment? Could it create more problems trying to align the jaw/gumline than it's worth? It's likely very unnoticeable to most other people I bet. Go back thru all your old pics first and compare.
Re: slanted jaw?
that is an occlusal cant. Ive seen many case studies online where TADS are used to fix the side that is lower. The teeth that appear lower can be pulled up to even out the plane. Ive got a similar situation.

i've seen through other images, and i am positive that it was straight. it was only when she added a bent at the side. as you can see from the 1st pic, around the red box. there's a bend. the time when she put this, i have no idea why.chocomorsel wrote:Ok, yes one side looks lower than the other, but are you sure it wasn't like that to begin with? then one time she changed my wire and forgot to bend it back and i realised that it actually made my teeth slanted.
anyway since im already lengthening my treatment for the overbite, i might as well tell her.

Tell her then and keep us posted. You are paying plenty of money for it. Gotta get the job done right.
Re: slanted jaw?
I've got the slanted upper arch too. Just like you, I didn't start out with a slant but it occurred over the course of treatment. My ortho has been putting different bends in my wire at times but I'm not sure how she intends to fix it. I've made posts about this topic before w/out much luck in getting an answer so I was interested to see the previous post here about tads. Please keep us updated on your discussion with your ortho. I'm really curious to find some answers too:)

Re: slanted jaw?
I have a serious slant in my lower jaw. I think my first ortho caused it by bending wires, but then again maybe it was there all along...I guess I'll know as the treatment progresses.
I've subtracted this much time from my total treatment

Re: slanted jaw?
I had this problem quite badly in both jaws, to the point I could only chew on one side. In my case it was there midly from before the orthodontic treatment; it just became more noticable because a) my bad teeth were no longer disguising it and b) my jaw hadn't finished growing before treatment and it gradually became worse due to a-symmetric growth. In my case it couldn't be corrected orthodontically and I ended up needing jaw surgery.
