MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
I'm so happy to be able to post in a "buddies" string, after having braces for nearly 3 years.
Scheduled for March 24 for double-jaw (saggital split and lefort 1) to fix a Class 3 (underbite).
Anyone else scheduled for March?!?

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
Hey Laundraholic, well i JUST got my date today after a visit with my oral surgeon here in Toronto; looks like March 28th is the magical day!
I feel you on the long wait; I was supposed to be on the July 2010 waiting list, so I've been waiting 2/3rds of a year (been braced since Feb 2009) for this date (extraction gaps took forever to close).
I'm getting quite a lot done (imo). I'm widening my upper jaw and also moving both the upper and lower forward (lower more, as I have an overbite), and a genio as well. It likely will be hell for a month(s) or so on the other side, but it's been pretty bad at times during this 2 year run, so I'm really looking forward to this.
Anyway I'm also excited to be a part of these "______ Buddies" threads finally lol. Look forward to going on this journey with you guys!

I know people have been having trouble getting in contact or purchasing zip and squeeze for a while now ... I think the original company went out of business?
That was the only good think about originally thinking I was only going to be waiting 18 months for this surgery. Back in late 2008 I ordered the zip and squeeze for the dinnerthroughastraw site, thinking I would have a surgery sometime in 2009 (boy... was i wrong!).
But the good thing is that I got the supplies and they've been waiting in the back of my closet ever since.
Good luck in your search for zip n squeeze!

hey laundraholic, just got a call today from the oral surgeons office and i've been now changed to the 24th too! lol. i'll be in the hospital for 2 nights, till the 26th.
like freakyteeth i'm exactly petrified and extremely excited!
although i'm less petrified about the pain/surgery/healing, and moreso about whether the surgeon will do a great job, and what my results will look like.

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
woohoo i'm glad to see for the most part we're all around the same time, so we'll be able to progress together
I'm starting to get really nervous now heading into the "final stretch"...
I had to book an appointment today for my family doctor (for pre-surgery bloodwork and to get the medical clearance), and then the oral surgeon's office called to advise me of my pre-admission appointment at the hospital as well as to book another appointment with the surgeon just prior to the surgery to do the final work-up and final molds.
Adding to that having to fit another couple orthodontist appointments before the surgery...
Good thing my workplace is being so understanding about all the time off required.

Laundraholic thank you so much for the dinnerthroughstraw site!! That's exactly what I needed! So, we have to make it a point to check in with each other this month. It looks like I'm the first one to go in! ..I'm getting more nervous as time goes on, but will be glad to be on the other side. I meet with my surgeon on the 22nd...I will let you all know how it goes!

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
They called and switched my surgery until March 29th They had two other cases that day and only scheduled me for 2 hours, and I need at least six! Ugh. I know it is only a week, but I am disappointed.

March 4th I feel almost bad to say I've only been on the wait list for 3 months. Yay for cancellations!

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
Now you're the first to go!! Met with my OS..took many X-rays and talked in detail so I'm found out I'm actually having a Lefort I (2-piece) osteotomy...and they are pushing for me to have the genioplasty as well. I just don't know if this is necessary..I know for appearances only.thisisme wrote:March 4th I feel almost bad to say I've only been on the wait list for 3 months. Yay for cancellations!

End of the week!
You have to report back once you're on the other side and let us know how it goes.
Good luck!

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES
Booooo.
Just got a call from the oral surgeon's office.
The hospital has rescheduled it from March 24 to March 31.
At least it's only a week, and at least it's in the same month.
