Gaps with 2 monts to go?

#1 Post by rabbitteeth »

My ortho said that I'm on schedule to have my braces removed in April. My only concern is that I still have gaps between some of my teeth that still need to be addressed. I'm afraid that this is going to push my date back to get them off. Has anyone experienced having gaps a couple of months before getting their braces off? I know teeth can move pretty quickly but wouldn't it need more time to anchor themselves?

How large are your gaps? I actually have only a couple months left too (no debrace date/month yet but she said a few more sessions left), however I still have small gaps too. But, I think she is trying to do other stuff to my teeth now and isn't putting too many bands and whatnot in my mouth now to pull everything together. I'm guessing she's going to wait until everything else is finessed and then close them back up (they were pretty much all closed at my last visit and then she took off all the elastics and the metal coil powerchains). It's kind of frustrating to watch, especially while i'm flossing, I can feel the gaps again. But, other things are improving so I guess she has a plan in mind.

I have about 2 months also, maybe a little longer, and still have an extraction gap to close. I had all 4 of my 1st premolars removed and the other 3 gaps have closed with the use of elastics. My ortho is using a spring for the last one. I don't think it is doing anything. It has been on since Feb. 16th. With the elastics I felt the pain and saw results within a couple of days. No pain and I don't see any movement with the spring.

Wow, you're my braced sister from another mother. i had my braces for almost the same time you have and I have these crazy gaps that are so stubborn to close. Before my last visit, they were all closed except for one on my top right. Now, they are all a little open. I too had a spring for the last two stubborn ones, and elastics too. Are you not using elastics for that last space too? It would help some. Also, make sure they give you a strong coil.. they have these really weak ones that do nothing, and strong ones that will close it in no time.

the gaps are about a 2 millimeters. I just had an appointment and my ortho was showing me where he wanted my teeth to be by he now he can't say when that will be, great. I'm tacking on another month or two the original April debracing date I was giving. Let's hope it's no more then that. My bit is still off and I've been wearing (as best I can) elastics since Nov. They put in new wires again put power chains all the way to the back of my molars again. I feel that my bite has improved since my last visit so I hope everything else falls in place in the next couple of months.

i'm curious if they recently did a panoramic xray for your teeth? i got one last visit, b/c she is anticipating my debrace "soon"... she's working on my roots now.. apparently my bite is good, it's always seemed okay. my main issues are the extraction gaps and some leveling which she is still working on, on the bottom.
