Hi Peggyfaye,
I'm 57 and have had my braces on for a liitle over 9 months. In the beginning I asked myself "what was I thnking" just about every day. Now I only ask myself that every 2-3 weeks! It has gotten a lot better, and it will all be worth it.

You are going to be so happy when its all said and done and you have a smile you can't stop smiling about :)
No one is too old for braces, its so much more common in adults now.

Hi Peggy, Hope things are settling now. Me and my daughter are both in fixed braces (hers are coming off soon though) after adjustments our home is not a talkative place. We never get adjusted at the same time though. Think I live at orthodontic practices. Keep us up to date on your progress. :rose:

Welcome to the club. I'm 56 and been braced a year. It does get easier. Now the only times I am in pain are after the adjustments. Once that passes I hardly notice the braces. Also I now notice how many adults have braces. Good conversation starter. Good luck. It will be worth it!!!!!

I am even older than you (62) and have been braced for 10 months, and am so glad I went ahead with the decision. I have the full metal and yes, there are some very sore days, but many more days when the braces are not a problem. Good luck with recovery from the surgery, that does not sound like much fun. Just came back from vacation and I saw more adults with braces in that one week than I have in the 10 months since I have been braced, so there are lots of folk out there undergoing the same journey. This website is a wonderful support group.
