Definitely obsessed. I drove my family crazy the first week and their eyes glaze over anytime I talk about my teeth now, so I try not to. All the mirror gazing and photo snapping is done in private.
Thank God for you guys.

Count me in on this crowd too. I constantly wonder if someone has had braces or am thinking they need them.
As for my own progress, I think I am driving my husband nuts. I have had a lot of progress, just not in the areas I want it. I taped this picture that the ortho's office gave me to the back of my bathroom door. It has all the different pics of my teeth, pre-braces, so I can see all the gaps, etc. Every night I am looking in the mirror, then back to the back of the door to see what has gone on.

Since being braced I talk to every adult & kid I see in braces!
With the younger kids I just give em a "tin grin".
With the adults I ask them who their ortho is, how long they have left, any problems, etc. etc. etc. Its like we are all OLD FRIENDS!

I constantly find myself looking at other peoples teeth now! A friend of mine warned me of this when I started so at least I was prepared. I have to say I think every adult I've met with braces has asked me in under a minute if I have invisalign!
Now that my front teeth are moving I take every opportunity to smile at myself. I'd think with all this smiling I would be ready for the day when my smile will perfect but for whatever reason I still cannot picture that day (maybe its cause I never thought I'd have "perfect" teeth)

2.6 years (30 months) with Invisalign plus 19 months 2 weeks with metal braces to achieve the perfect smile.

I saw that movie this afternoon, and his teeth looked straight, but his bite looked weird and his teeth were eerily white.jenns91civic wrote:Most definitely. I'm even worse now that mine are off. Example: I saw the midnight showing of Charlie and the Chocolate factory tonight. Johnny Depp had some seriously funky teeth going on. They were meant to look perfect I guess, but the midline was so off it was driving me nuts. His canines weren't right......my poor cousin was going crazy because of my comments. I am always pointing out teeth. I don't think there's anything wrong with it though. Caring about your own progress is great and will help you get through any rough times during your treatment.
Side note...in the Charlie and the Chocolate factory movie, Willy Wonka has flashbacks to his childhood and he has braces and this horrible looking headgear. His dad, played by Christopher Lee, is a dentist and burns all the halloween candy, making comments like "caramel...to get stuck in your braces. lollipops: cavity on a stick" It was too funny, especially for a teeth obsessed person like me.
I've seen his real teeth before, and he MUST either have dentures or veneers in the movie. [/quote]

I'm kinda like you, MissBracy.
I like to have fun with colors, I smile to myself in the mirror, I smile big brace-y grins to others, and love to talk about them and show them to anyone who's interested.

Metal braces from March 24, 2005 until July 30, 2007. Estimate was 18-24 months, but I had them for 28 months.

I'm glad I have something in common! I'm always looking at other peoples teeth, looking to see what type of braces they have, what colors they got put in, if they have elastics, and the list goes on! I'm constantly looking to see what changes might have occured in 2 minutes! I brush at least 5 times a day! I hope I don't get stains!:(
I haven't seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but I probably will soon!

I read in Entertainment Weekly that he would spit out his "dentures" and an assistant would put them into a zip-lock baggie for him when he ate.
I tried not to stare at his teeth throughout the movie (though it was HARD) because I was sure my family could tell that I was staring.

Yep, Count Me In...
Yes, I definitely notice peoples' teeth especially now that I have been through braces.
I always wonder if they have already done braces or if they were born with a nice smile. On the other hand, I constantly see people who have bad teeth and think "e gads...do something about it."
I think what strikes me the most (and I was guilty of this before I got braced) is that many people seem to care a lot about their appearance, will wear nice stylish clothes, nice haircut, expensive jewelry, etc, but when they open their mouth -- e gads -- teeth all over the place. I think they fail to see the importance of the "whole package."
No matter how awesome your outfit, how hot your body, how fabulous your haircut, people really do notice bad teeth!
I often think to myself, wow, in just 18 months that person could have a great smile and would truly be a "great package."
