Anyone experienced unevenness?

#1 Post by katiemcb09 »

I got braces a little over 3 months ago. I had my 4 second premolars removed in the first week. Since then, the crowding has gotten better. Right before my second adjustment, I took photos (http://missmetalmouth.wordpress.com/) and the angled teeth had straightened out dramatically. The bottom was very uneven, though. It had started sloping down towards the one tooth that had been sticking out (this is probably easier understood with photos).

All that being said, I had my second adjustment on Monday afternoon. Last night, I looked in the mirror and noticed that my two top front teeth have become uneven. One is lower than the other. I have never had any problem with this before...

Has anyone else experienced this? Does it eventually even back out? All the sloping is driving me crazy. At least before my top was even, but now everything's off! I trust my ortho, I am just curious how long this will be a problem.

I am over the 18 month mark and this has occurred throughout the entire process. When I first started elastics (wore them for about 8 weeks), my left lower side seems to slope down. It has now straightened out. Well, I think it has...it seems as if every week my teeth look different, sometimes worse, sometimes really good, then back to worse again. I am sure things will be close to perfect when it is all over.

I am almost at the 5 month mark and I'm experiencing the same thing. My bottom teeth seem to slope in one direction, and since my last adjustment, my one front tooth is slightly ahead of the other. From reading other posts here, it seems this is all normal and will straighten out in time. But I know how you feel, its frustrating to notice your teeth getting worse instead of better.

Your teeth don't look so bad, considering you're still early in your treatment.. there's so much more straightening out that needs to be done so I wouldn't worry if I were you.

I do have a question though.. I have the same crimp in the braces in between my two bottom teeth as you do (you have them on both top and bottom). Did your ortho ever explain why you have it, and what iti's supposed to accomplish?

I have this issue but it's my top teeth, the left middle and the next tooth next to it next to the canines. My ortho is trying to fix it with a bend in the wire. Is your ortho doing anything to fix it?

Thanks for all the help, everyone! Hopefully it starts improving soon, it's driving me crazy. VA5 - I ask a lot of questions, but I have never asked what the crimp in the wire is for! I've had it on every wire so far... anyone else know what the purpose is?

I got that same crimp only at the very end of my treatment... after 2 years of having braces, one day she crimped it, and I didn't notice until I came home so I have no clue why it's there, lol.. but very curious.
