That's so awesome if you get them off after only having them for 8 months!! There's hope at the end of the tunnel. :)

Hi SilverGirl :)

You've made phenomenal progress in such a short time. I was given about the same treatment time estimate as you were, but will be finishing about a month beyond that. By the looks of it, though, we'll both be getting de-braced right around the same time (April).

I also noticed we chose the same ticker (rabbit hopping across the grass). I recently changed mine to reflect the sense that things are moving along very quickly now...

Lots of luck with the remainder of your treatment...

Mike

Hi, Mike - how exciting that you're almost done, too! Now that I know, though, all I can think about is getting them off - which of course is making time slow down. And my thoughts exactly on the rabbit - getting close to the finish!

Boring adjustment yesterday. Wires changed, a little more IPR in between a couple teeth, just some fine-tuning. My teeth are so straight, I'm like - enough, already! But my overbite still needs to be tightened up, so a couple more months with the rubber bands, I guess.

I'm not even going to bother posting a photo - they look exactly the same!

Seeing pictures like yours makes me REALLY excited that I finally got braces! Your teeth are so gorgeous and I hope that mine look like that in the end! I'm about 24 hours in (who's counting? lol) and it's not really too bad. I haven't had to interact with people much yet, so that might be a different story when I'm back to work on Thursday. You're so lucky that it's only taking about 8 months! I wasn't given an exact timeframe yet, but they set up my payments to be over 20 months, so I'm guessing that's the estimate? Good luck with the next couple of months!

Thanks, stepher! I know, it does help to see people's results and to know that it will all be worth it in the end.

I had another boring adjustment yesterday. Although I did get some good news - he said that we'll do one more adjustment in 3 weeks, then get them off at the appointment after that. So I'm looking at mid-May! I'm really excited about that, but won't really believe it until it happens. Or at least until he says the same thing at my next adjustment! Here's a photo of my teeth - although they haven't really changed any:

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on there! You mean you could get your braces off around the 7 month mark? That's just brilliant! Congrats!

Hey, Luchababe - I just found out today that I get them off May 11th! So that will put me at 8 months 11 days, which exceeds all my expectations! I love, love, love how my teeth have changed - not only do I love how much straighter they've become, but also how much wider my smile is now, and how my front two top teeth have been filed down and no longer look rabbity. I can't wait to see this smile without the hardware!

Hi SilverGirl :D

Your teeth look really great! I think the elastics make a big difference in correcting the bite. It's all worth it in the end, and your's is near. That countdown has begun...I'm excited for you!

I have a question for you: Anticipating which event gives you the most butterflies - waiting to get your braces on ... OR ... waiting to get them off?......hmmmm......?

Hi, Mike - thanks! I have to say that I have more butterflies waiting to get the braces off! When I decided to get them on, it was after years of hemming and hawing about it and I was impatient to get started. I just grew to hate my teeth that much! But now that they are straight, I'm very nervous to get them off (even though I'm looking forward to it at the same time) - the braces are kind of a security that they will stay that way. I hope the retainers really work to keep them in place!

Ok, I need to know...how on earth have you been keeping your teeth so white??? I feel like mine are noticeably more yellow since the braces went on but I'm terrified to try any type of whitening because I don't want to have discoloured patches on my teeth when the braces come off! What's your secret??

Hi, Dilema - I'm so excited for Wednesday! Although I have a tiny little worry that he'll tell me they're not ready. I'll post photos as soon as they are off!

And stepher - I don't do anything special - I just use Crest Tartar Control toothpaste and that Colgate Phos-Flur rinse every once in a while. I think maybe they look a little more white in the photos than in real life? Although I did start drinking my diet Coke through a straw at all times after I got the braces, so maybe that keeps them whiter. And I don't drink much coffee.

Well, that's probably what I'm doing wrong...I drink a lot of tea and coffee and don't use a straw lol perhaps I should start doing that! I don't want to end up with nice straight teeth that look terrible because they're stained lol

THEY'RE OFF!!! Thanks to everyone on this board for the encouragement! I seriously didn't think I could deal that first week and almost had them taken off after only days on. I'm so glad I didn't - it was SOOOOOO worth it. No more crooked and overlapping front tooth!
