6 teeth extracted! Will my gaps close??

Hi all,

I've had my braces on for 2 1/2 months now and 2 days ago had 2 upper pre-molars, 2 lower pre-molars and my lower wisdom teeth removed.
I now only have 12 teeth on my top and 11 on my bottom. I am concerned that they have taken out too many teeth. Now I know these guys are professionals and they are a very well known Orthodontist but when I am looking at the gaps and the teeth I have left, it makes me nervous. Please tell me that they will weave their magic and make the gaps close up...

Hi there. Im getting seven teeth pulled 4 being my wisdom. Im super nervous about how long I will have to wait before I get my braces on. Did you get all 6 teeth extracted at the same time?

I had 2 teeth extracted from the top. I spent 5 months with huge gaps as I had to wear a removable brace first. I finally got fixed braces on my upper teeth just over 6 months ago and the gaps are almost completely closed today. You can hardly tell I had any teeth extracted now.

I wouldn't worry too much. You're teeth will soon start moving

These things take time, yes it is frustrating and i feel the same, but you need to be patient as teeth apparently move 1mm per month. Ive had braces on since Jan 27th this year and had 2 upper teeth removed 6 weeks ago to try and correct an overjet - the rest of the teeth will be 'pulled back in' and straightened with the braces. It feels like the gaps havent closed at all, however the wire that was wrapped very tightly around the surrounding teeth is now loose, so SOMETHING must be going on!

I had 8 extractions almost 4 weeks ago (all 4 wisdom teeth + 4 normal teeth.) I got my top braces on Monday. Hoping my gaps move in quickly so I cam start eating properly and not with my very back teeth.

Sorry to hear you had to have so mamy teeth extracted. I feel the same way. I hate having these gaps and hoping that one day i wake up and the spaces will magically disappear. ive finally mastered the technique of not looking in the mirror staring at my teeth for hours, so that works!!
