Any newbies self conscious about braces READ THIS!

#1 Post by danz23 »

Hey guys. I recently posted the message below in the post braces/retainer forum and was encouraged to share it with you all here aswell. Shows that people around you dont look at your teeth as much as you think! Good luck :).
P.S Please dont be put off by the wisdom teeth bit, thats another issue altogether!

Has this happened to any of you? This is the second time i've had braces off and no one said anything! Except the people I told! I had them off yesterday. Last time it took 5 days before anyone noticed, wonder how long it'll take this time?! Grrrrr. And now I have to have 2 wisdom teeth out. Not looking foward to that, not to mention the costs. I have to go to an oral surgeon coz one of the teeth is impacted I think.

That's weirdly comforting - you'd think it'd be disheartening not having people notice your new teeth but I see what you mean about it meaning people don't notice!

I got my braces two weeks ago (ceramic coloured) and honestly, of all my friends I told about 3 of them I was getting them done so they didn't comment as they knew they were there (except to say they didn't look bad at all) - and out of the rest of them, so far just ONE person looked surprised after I gave him a smile and said 'are you wearing braces?'. Just one! None of my colleagues have noticed (again, bar the ones I've mentioned it to) and my boyfriend adores them - says they make me look cute haha

Anywy if any newbies are reading seriously go ahead and get them done. If this works out for me and I do get my perfect smile it will be 110% worth it!

I've had my braces off for a week and only one person has noticed.

I suppose that makes me feel slightly better... I'm getting braces later this month. Although, so many people at school have braces anyways that it doesn't really make much of a difference anyways. :P
