What was your "WOW!" moment?

#1 Post by Julia221 »

Was there a moment after being braced when you looked in the mirror and thought, "Wow! These things really are working!" or something similar?

Yesterday, while driving home from work, I thought I had something stuck between my front teeth. I felt it with my finger, and realized it felt really weird. At the next traffic light, I looked in the rear-view mirror and WOW! I don't have a gap between my front teeth anymore! My teeth are touching each other! For the first time in my life (that I can remember)! I know I've still got a long way to go, and there's a chance that space will reappear later, but it made me feel really awesome for the moment.

I can FINALLY say I've seen some movement, but I have had nowhere near a "wow" moment yet. When I went back to my regular dentist recently for a cleaning, she had a "wow" moment! She was saying "cant you see it?!" Nooooo...still can't...
I think I just look too much........I do trust that it will happen for me though...

My WOW moment was 4 months into braces, one day out of the blue I could not remembe which side my upper canine fang used to be on, I literally could not remember which side it used to be on. And I am 42 almost 43 so I have had that fang since I was 12 and my adult teeth came in, a long long time. I needed a picture to remind me which side it USED to be on. I glad that is gone! I get debraced on top next Wednesday and I am going to miss these suc.kers, lol!

I originally had one straight front tooth, and one that stuck out a bit, so my WOW moment was when I bit into a sandwich and realised both front teeth were working together. I hadn't really appreciated until then that the wonky one was now straight.

I've had 2 wow moments. First was at like..the 1-2 month mark, where i visibly noticed that my canines were going down, and when OTHER people pointed it out too. The other wow moment was at the last adjustment when i told the ortho it felt like my overbite decreased...and she said YES. :D Believe me, that single thing made me the happiest braced 23 y-old on the bus home.

Mine was at about 6 weeks at my first adjustment. After about 2 hours in the new wire I finally got a chance to take a look in the mirror, and the pesky bottom incisor that was rotated had popped right into place.

I'm having a lot of mini wow moments.
One big one is when I'm shaving I notice its getting much easier to shave above my lip because the premaxilla is expanding. I wearing an ALF appliance undoing the damage of extraction orthodontics earlier in life.
Also noticing my cheekbones develop, fuller lips and a stronger chin - pretty unbelievable
