I just got my braces put on this morning. I am so upset. I had no clue I would not be able to eat. And anything I do eat gets stuck in my braces. Also they had to build up 2 of my molars to stop me from biting down on the brackets and now its so hard to chew food. My teeth are now beginning to hurt now which sucks. I feel like crying. So hopefully it gets better. The previous posts give me hope.

Your installations are the opposite of what I had. I had bottoms on first and tops on 3 months later. I thought I was going to die with the bottoms. The tops were half the pain, but still painful becasue I couldn't bite down on anything for a month! Say goodbye to sandwiches, cookies, french bread etc for awhile.

Remember to take the Advil with you to the appointment.
:D

Braced: bottoms: 9-1-2010; uppers 12-1-2010
Debrace date: 10-20-2011
Bottom braces: 9-1-10
Top Braces: 12-1-10, enamel
Debrace date:Top 12-12-11

I think an order depends on the specific bite problems and other situations. I wanted them both at the same time, but my ortho insisted we must wait 12 weeks with the lowers due to my deep bite. Just got the lowers fitted + more spacers to band the 2nd molars next week. So I am in the double trouble :GapToothed:
They have warned me that this going to hurt. I am ready, and Advil helps me:) So far - not that bad, but I know the REAL pain starts after approx 12 hrs for me.
To be honest, at this point I am like - whatever. I really want my bite fixed.
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

I have no formal dental or orthodontic education. Hence, all opinions expressed by me on this forum are those of an "informed consumer" and by no means intended as an expert advice.
