My ortho is male--there are only about 3-4 orthos where I live and they are all male. My "superdentist" is female. I wish she was my orthodontist..... My ortho is a dork and the rest of the office is :yuck:

Yeah, my ortho is a male too, but ALL of his staff (and that is at least 20 people I would guess) are female. I think he wants to be the only male in his practice LOL

I have done a little research and there seems to be only one female ortho in the area, and she's a little far from me to consider.

Someone else mentioned dentists, surprisingly enough, here I see quite a lot of female dentists, esp the general dentists. Most of the oral surgeons are still males though.

I think what happens is that males shift into the most financially attractive areas, leaving the dirtier and less paid jobs for women. Same seems to be true in the physicians' world, while I see a lot of female pediatricians or general practitioners, there are not many female surgeons.

Same is no doubt true about minorities as well. Unfortunately, we still have a long way to go in terms of equality....

Hey Arch,

Very interesting and true!

Ya, my ortho looks like he's 12 and he has surrounded himself with all "hot" females. It's kind of obvious and sickening...
well, he is a "genius" I hear, he seems to have it all worked out...the men would high five him....

that would have been understandable, if my ortho was not almost 60 :-* But he takes great care of himself and he LOVES to hear how young he looks! I am telling you, a rare woman would compete with him on this. So probably women are more understanding and supportive of this issue, I bet they (WE) are!
All this reminds me of the rooster among the hens, only one could be there! :-* :-* :-*

Ha ha. Same exact scenario in my ortho's office. Every assistant except the guy who does the molds is a woman. And there are like 20 of them. No joke. Big office.

My dentist and ortho are both female.

When my dentist was talking to me about ortho's she recommended 2 males and 1 female (the one I see). I just loved the attitude and confidence my ortho had.

All of the assistants are female too.

There are majority male orthos and dentists in my area so I am surprise that I have both females.

When I was a kid, both my ortho and dentist were males.

Both of the oral surgeons that I have seen, 1 pulled my wisdom teeth and the other pulled my 4 premolars, were both male

My dentist and my ortho are male.
In both offices all the assistants are female.
Both offices are older decor vintage and feel very homey.
My ortho has a huge salt water fish tank, just to the right of the entry door, that he keeps stocked with fish he collects on his diving trips.
