Newbie!

#1 Post by Shelly426 »

Hey all! I am new here and am looking for some support in this journey I started being I don't personally know anyone who has used Invisalign.

My first two weeks went pretty well. I'm projected to have 24 upper and 24 lower trays. I currently have 3 attachments on my upper teeth and will get 3 attachments on my lowers week 12. I am working on changing my eating/drinking habits which has probably been the biggest adjustment. Luckily, so far, I haven't had a problem with taking the trays in and out!

I have two questions....

First: Did wearing the trays make anyone else feel like they were thirsty all the time?? Or have that dry mouth feeling?? I guess hindsight is I am drinking a lot more water which is good yet the feeling of thirst is about enough to drive me crazy!

Second: With my first set of trays, they didn't feel abnormally tight/uncomfortable. I just put in my 2nd set of trays (literally about 30 min ago) and they feel REALLY tight, is this normal??

I am so glad to have this forum to help us all on our journey! I appreciate your responses in advance!!

Thanks!

Hi Newbie
Welcome to this site! I've found it really useful to read other peoples experiences with Invisalign.

I am on week 4 of 28 and really quite used to them now. I still feel really thirsty and drink water all the time, I love a cup of tea when I'm at work but just have water most of the time as it saves me taking the aligners out.

My first set of trays were really comfortable, the dentist told me that they were like that just to get me used to having something in my mouth?? To be honest I prefer it when the new set is tight, it makes me feel like they are doing something. They are just tight for the first few days and by the time changeover comes at the end of the two weeks they just feel normal.

I haven't got attachments, but this set has got little bubbles on so I think attachments might be coming!!

Hope this helps.
Carolyn
