I just had and EPIPHANY!

Elastics really do work. Take a look at my upper arch comparison pic. The first pic is from this month (the blurrier one), the second pic is from my June adjustment. I thought I was just comparing how much the space has closed when I realized 3 different things

1. My midline - That strip of skin that goes straight down the middle used to curve to the left. IT'S STRAIGHT!

2. The Shift - Because my midline was corrected my whole right side shifted to the right some more.

3. Arch Width - My midline is pretty good, my right side shifted, and my arch is wider and rounder because of elastics!

As much of a pain as they are, they REALLY WORK!

Keep wearing your elastics diligently everyone! :D

Hi Ya'll!!!

I had to stop in and talk about another Buckey on Broadway moment. I'm going to be doing a spoken word piece tonight. I'm semi-nervous which for me, looks like...well...I have to go to tinkle often. I hope I have more opportunities to do stuff like this when I'm brace-free. Performing is always fun, AND I am a very animated person. Unless I'm being serious that day. :P

The braces are doing FABU! I still have a space between my upper left canine and 2nd bicuspid but I'm on the side of positivity that says it'll close soon. I may even ask my Ortho if she can do something to make the hole close quicker.

Positivity with reinforcements is always helpful.

I still can't believe I'm approaching my second year. Once your in, it goes by fast, but I'm almost concerned that these next couple of months will creep by because of what's going to be happening with my teeth soon. Eh...but we'll see.

Anywho! I do encourage the proxy brush flossing method unless you have gum issues. My teeth feel so clean when I do it! They feel a little healthier too. I guess just flossing doesn't always cut it for me. That's when I heard a voice that said...

SEND THOSE BABIES THROUGH THE CAR WASH!

I recommend it. :D

Hi Ya'll!

So I have an appointment on the 22nd of this month. I'm really hoping we can kick into overdrive and get this gap closed. It's getting there, but it needs some assistance.

I get laughed at constantly because I'm the slowest eating person almost anyone has ever seen. But what can I say? When you have all of this metal in your mouth and you're a searcher...you almost have no choice but to eat slowly.

Every bite is an opportunity to get food into your stomach instead of getting food stuck in your braces.

I'm sad to say, I'll probably search my teeth viciously for many days after these bad boys come off... :|

Buck!!

Your teeth look AMAZING!!! :jump: :jump: :jump:

I had a 10mm overjet in the beginning and now I'm down to 4mm in just 4 1/2 months---isn't it the greatest feeling!! Like your going to be "normal" or something...

I agree with you about the elastics--I have had mine in constantly since day one--I'm so used to them and they are working so well, that I practically run to the bathroom after I eat to brush and put them back in. It will be soooo weird when I don't have to have them anymore!

I bet you are going nuts!! I can't wait to see your final pic with the braces off--the pics are soooo encouraging!

Hey Klobird!!!

Thanks! :D

That is absolutely amazing! 6mm in 4 1/2 months! What else can I say but WOW!!!! I know what you mean on the feeling "normal" thing. It feels so weird to not have to jut my jaw out to make it appear as if I didn't suck my thumb for 14 years of my 25 year life! Not to mention my face looks different. My eyes look bigger and my face looks more aligned in comparison to how it looked before braces.

About the elastics, check my post after this one. I felt like I wanted to put my elastic on my right side EVERY DAY when my Ortho changed the time I had to wear them! Of course except when I was being lazy. Do you like the extra tug they seem to put on your braces? I know I do! It's like I'm missing an important article of clothing without them. Keep up the brushing at work! I gave up months ago...

You are so very right! Check my next post for more info. I am an absolute nut case when it comes to these braces! I can see the finishline. I'm getting close but not close enough to cross it yet. I'm so happy these pics have helped! Everyone on AW has helped me too! If it weren't for AW I think I'd still be looking around for Ortho's now...

Hi YA'LL! :D

So I had my adjustment today. Woohoo! I'm in month 10 of 14! :o SHUT UP! I've never looked forward to winter in my whole life but today, I can't wait until winter begins. What I hope now is that everything lines up and looks perfect just like my Ortho wants. I love fellow perfectionists. So, the news on the teeth. Remember how I only had to wear elastics at night? Now, I'm back on 24/7 and I HAVE to change my elastics after I eat and was informed to not eat with them in. I got a different configuration on the left but the right side is the same. Today, I really bonded with my Tech. She was and always is awesome. She told me about her not wearing her retainer because she lost it, and how she spent four months in braces where she works now. Then were were talking about wearing camisoles because they hold us in and how she put napkins (the bib) on the girls who happen to have up top muffining if you know what I mean. Crazy me, I referred to them as an oil spill, they just fall where they want to and usually land somewhere near your chin if the chair is tilted far enough.

Anywho! On with the pics!

Smile pretty! They're coming off soon!

And just flat out Bite.

My teeth have changed drastically since June. What I'm trying to figure out is, why is my ticker 5 days off? I'll fix it later. Anywho! Happy 2nd Brace-i-versary tooooooooooo mmmmmmmeeeeeee! :D

Hi Libbylou!

Thank you so much! Orthodontia is a real wonder isn't it? I can't believe how quickly my teeth changed and how different they look from my pre-braces days. I honestly would have never thought it were possible!

Hi Ya'll!!!

So I've got a few updates.

Two years in braces is no joke. One year piece of cake, but this second year is kicking my butt! I wanted these braces off like yesterday! I even thought about removing them myself. Then I thought about the damage I'd do to my teeth... That would be no bueno after all of this work that has been put into making my teeth beautifully aligned. So I continue to dream of the day when I'll be brace free...

This gap is so stubborn! I swear it's like me when I want my way, unmoving. The problem is I don't know what it wants in order to get it to do what I want it to do. :?

I know I'm getting closer to reaching the finish line daily and it's making my gums itch! I'm looking at pictures, reading blogs, constantly looking at my teeth for changes. I feel like I'm literally crazy when it comes to my teeth! But you can't rush perfection, and lucky me, my Orthodontist...is a perfectionist.

Until next time!!!!

Wow!! Class III elastics now? Do you think the Class II might have overcompensated a bit, and now he's trying to correct it? As for your gap, I guess that just goes to show that your wire is still working, and your teeth are still moving. Probably trying to close up that gap. I have a new gap, too, that I thought had closed up, but has since re-opened.

What are the wire ties for? I've never understood why they would use that over elastic ligatures.

Your teeth still look fabulous, even with all the new stuff they installed!

Hey Catgrl, wire ties are really for faster rotation/alignment of teeth :)

Muchas Gracias, Beauty is Pain!! I should ask my ortho about that next time. I have one tooth at the bottom that he's been trying to rotate a bit by kinking the archwire, but it doesn't look like it's budged in months. I think I really might ask him next month how he plans to fix my 3 biggest concerns. I might be asking for trouble, though, as it sounds like these things might hurt.

Your teeth look fantastic, Buckey!!
