oral-b braun, ortho heads?

#1 Post by dark_angel475 »

i have an oral-b professional with normal thoothbrush heads, but i saw that you can get these ortho ones. They're made for braces. I was just wondering if the money for them is worth it.

Does anyone use these type of brushes?

I have the same toothbrush and had gotten it right before I got my braces put on. I was thrilled to death to see that ortho head included. I think I've used it once. The regular brush heads work just as good. The only time I guess it'd be nice to have them was if you had something that was absolutely not coming out of your brackets.

IMO, not worth having.
Full upper and lower metal braces put on May 12, 2005.

Braces free as of April 18, 2006!

Temporarily rebraced Nov. 21, 2006. ( I think I've moved past temporary. )

Brace free again - July 26, 2007.

Yeah it's worth it. The regular heads don't fit around the brackets as well as the orthodontic heads do. I use a regular head for the backs of my teeth and an orthodontic head for the front.

I got the ortho head ages ago, but haven't used it more than a couple of times. Reason: I don't think it does a good job -at least not on my teeth. The same goes for the normal heads. They clean bare teeth well, but don't work on my braces. Actually, it seems that the ortho head is yet a bit worse... it leaves quite a lot of plaque around the brackets.
What I get better results with, is a manual orthodontic toothbrush.
Upper braces (ceramic&metal) since January 20th, 2005, fixed retainer since November 25th, 2005
Lower braces (metal) since July 5th, 2005.
Problem: crowding.
Estimated total treatment time 12-14 months.
