inman aligner question

Hi everyone! I am turning forty at the end of this month and I have a consultation next week for an inman aligner for my top teeth. They are straight apart from one tooth which is rotated and crossing the other one. I have been reading this forum for a while and today I read that the inman is not very good for rotations. has anyone got a success story with rotations or shall I start looking for another kind of brace? I can't afford invisalign and would like straight teeth a.s.a.p.

Hi! I do not have a success story because I just got my IAs day before yesterday. However, my dentist told me he would fit me with a special retainer that WOULD turn the tooth that has some rotation.

I think the best thing is to read every personal experience on the web, which I did and you are doing) so you know the questions to ask and then go for a consult. My dentist told me everything I had planned to ask him so I felt very comfortable committing to the process and his practice.

If the consulting dentist doesn't provide the information then seek another opinion.

Janey, did you get fitted for IAs?

My dentist told me they probably wouldn't work "much" on my rotated tooth either but he said he'd put me in a specialized retainer for that one tooth towards the end of our treatment plan.

Guess what?! It's been only 22 days and that tooth is "almost" rotated off the other front tooth and "almost" straight along with the movement of others as well.

I look at my teeth every day, sometimes more than once a day and I can really tell a difference. Today I was delighted when one of my co-worker mentioned how much progress SHE sees in my teeth! Wow!

I don't know for sure since I am not a dentist but I really think the arch expanders (top and bottom) are working wonders in my mouth.

If you haven't yet made the commitment to the IAs you might want to ask your dentist if an arch expander would help. Just an idea...

Hopefully I will see a little improvement by Christmas. I cannot wait to get started now. It feels like such a long time since I first started looking but this site has been brilliant to read! How has your speech been with the IA?

Thank you. It is exciting to finally have almost straight teeth--at my age. Better late than never, right?

When I first got them I thought I sounded terrible but my son said it was fine. I cannot pronounce three syllable words clearly so I merely choose other words. To me my speech is still funny with both top and bottom IAs in place but it is just fine when I take one out--you'll do fine with just one IA.

I did take the day odd from work after I got my IAs so I could get used to them and to practice speaking over the long weekend but ended up going into the office to visit with a few co-workers anyway. I wanted to know if I sounded really bad and I knew they'd tell me.

My co-workers have been very supportive. I wear them throughout my work day and try to schedule meetings close to lunch hour so I can motor mouth if the occasion calls for it.

I am sorry I missed this question earlier. Thanks for reposting it.

My dentist is Dr. M. Sacooh in Joppa, Maryland. I definitely recommend him as he does it all (regular braces, Invisalign, Inman Aligners, ect.). If you've read my posts you know he made another mold impression last week (week 4) and made me a clear aligner, which I will wear for two weeks to finish the rotation of my front tooth. He's reasonable and very courteous as are all his staff.

Please tell him Sharon Sharp recommended him!

If Dr. Sacooh is too far from you then I recommend you make an email request to the official Inman Aligner web site. That is how I found my dentist; I simply asked for a list of dentists within 50 miles of my zip code. I made an email request because my SPAM SPAM SPAM wasn't pulling up any Maryland dentists in their "Find a dentist locator". Send them an email; they sent me a list that same day!

Let me know if you see Dr. Sacooh and keep us all updated on your progress!

Thanks for the info. Joppa is too far so I will look them up on the IA website. So, I called a few from the IA website and at least 10 of them have not even heard of IA??? Go figure! Joppa might be an option if no other doc is available. Thanks again!!

Yeah, go figure! I am wondering if the person who answered the dentists' phones did not know what they were called.

There were a few others listed but they were too far for me. Do you mind giving me your zip code and I can see if there were any closer to you?
