I hate getting my impressions done

It made me wonder why this couldn't have been done from the start?!

I'd guess its easier for them to do the impressions in the normal dental position, but if the patient is having problems they can be done in the seated position instead - probably just makes it a little more awkward for the dentist to see and reach.

When I think back, my Orthos office did my impressions while I was sitting up.
But I have a vivid memory of getting impressions done when I was like 12, and almost choking on the stuff. The dentist just kept telling me I was fine, till he took the crap out and saw that it had slid down the back of my throat. My Orthos stuff wasn't nearly that thin though, I guess consistency makes a difference.
