Really? I practically break my old bones getting over here to see a new missive by our gal Elle and I find this. I'll give him a (wee) break as it does appear to be his first post and we have to do those quickly. Maybe a comment on the ladies teeth might have been nice? I only have so much fun time in the morning before work and I want the GOOD stuff only. Don't forget to stretch everyone. Elle, hope yer excellent all is okay here. Alas yeah Vancouverites proved they can be impolite, terrible people rioting in the streets.

Hi Elle,
You have such a great attitude! Some of the things I read in your posts make me giggle because I can SO relate! For some reason I'm unable to see your pics, though.
Good lucky for speedy straight teeth!

Hi guys

Just got back from the WORST (okay actually 2nd worst) vacation to my inlaws. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

When will I ever learn my lesson that spending more than 24 hours with them is a hazard to my health, mentally and physically. There is no amount of booze, pain killers, medicines or deep breathing that will ever get me through a visit with them without losing it. :-*

Anyways UGHHHHHH must get over it, home for a few days before RVing for most of the summer.

I had horrible mouth sores for most of the 10 day vacation from hell, I was in the middle of no where so couldn't buy any kanker sore stuff, couldn't salt water because the water was contaminated and made me sick. Learned my lesson, I must travel with all my wax and stuff even if I don't have any sores.

So I went for my adjustment and he said everything was looking good I don't have to wear the elastic on the front teeth at night for now and I got my finishing wire on the bottom. Which also means I don't have that wire loops on the front 3 teeth. Those were soooooooo sexy.

I am wearing elastics from the bottom molar tube to the top first hook (will post pics soon) I guess this is to fix my overbite. Of course I forgot to ask because I was too busy complaining about my vacation.

This elastic figuration doesn't seem too noticeable which is nice because I am trying to wear 24/7 but sometimes if I have to talk a lot at an event I will take them out.

I asked the assistant if I really had to wear these things for 2.5 years and she said probably not, so I hope thats true (or that she will lie to me for the next 50 visits) I am mentally okay with 1.5 years maybe 2 but I don't know if my self esteem could handle 2.5 years :GapToothed:

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and their teeth are moving !!!

Elle

Elle, your teeth are looking FANTASTIC! I really cannot believe your progress in just 6-7 months. I can't imagine you will have to go through this for another 18 months. Your teeth look better than mine! Haha

I had a question about your finishing wires. Did your ortho say what they were made of? Stainless steel? Titanium? The reason I ask is that I just got a new heavier wire on top only 2 months after getting my previous wire. He said it was heavier and that I would be sore. (Yeah... No kidding, dude!) it sure would be nice to know I was kinda-sorta-maybe nearing the end of my treatment.

It looks like we both have the same elastic configurations; alternating between the triangles and Class II (the ones you have now). I told him that even though Class II are most comfortable and less visible, they tend to pull my teeth UP, and I didn't like that. Voila! 2 more hooks and more triangles. :?

Lookin' great, girlie!!!

ellebraced hello.
well there are a lot of people married to older men love we are the lucky ones.
im 29 and my hubby is.... wait.... 53.

my husband loves it when people point out the age factor. he responds with " your only as old as what you feel" then he says hes feelin 29 what are you feelin?

we have been married 8years. together for 9.although a police man once said to me to " take my dad home hes looking a little tired. when i got stopped for a breath test. i replied " thats my husband" he choked and said sorry.

i just learned to have fun with it and to also tell people to "mind their own business"

in relation to peoples comments people can just be soooooo darn rude. and definatly in todays society people just have far too much to say about things that dont concern them.

when i got my braces a friend said oh why bother are you vein theres nothing wrong. i replied that her NOSE job she pretends she NEVER had looks great and its a shame they didnt take any off the length seeing as shes still putting it where its not wanted.

why is it ok for people to get nose jobs, facelifts, boob jobs, hair implants,lyposuction........but if you get braces to fix problems that we live with and at no fault of ours we are considered to be committing some kind of sin.. how dare we.

ok ive said my bit good on you your teeth are going to look amazing and you will be the one with the hollywood smile....

take care from huggypillow

PICS - Just shy of 7 months, I see my upper wonky tooth is still a bit out of line I think it went the wrong way with those triangle elastics from last month. My bite is changing for sure and feels different with these new elastics, midline a bit off still, a little spacey on the right side still. If you look at my day 1 pics though a HUGE improvement in such a short time

Thanks Huggypillow- My husband is the love of my life. Age doesn't matter and no one has said anything to my face except that I look too young to be married 10 years.

Catgyrl- I had the starting wirer and 2 thicker (maybe 3) memory wires the last one was square and sharp. I will ask next time what they are made of. I am on the finishing wire which he bends to make certain teeth move. I will have these same wires til the end. I have no idea what they will do for 18 more months, seems like forever. But I guess most movement occurs right away then the teeth are stubborn and slowly move into place. I am sure it will be alternating elastic combos and powerchains or not for awhile. I am soooo happy with my progress in 7 months. When I look at the before it is shocking to see the changes but when I take pics I can see what still needs to move to be perfect. I know they wanted me to have jaw surgery for the perfect results and without are doing the best they can. So I don't really know where my bite is suppose to be in the end or how my teeth will look, I will ask next time. My overbite was 10 mm and now is like 2+mm I think.

Underconstruction (Karen) Thanks. I am happy with results so far can't wait for the final results

Threescompany- the wire loops really were no trouble just a bit annoying to look at, they bend in really well. Only got food stuck a lot in the lower one.

VancouverJude- How are you doing? Hope you are enjoying your summer. Weird weather here this summer.

Here is a couple more pics.

Oh and an update on my PRK laser eye surgery. My sight is now AWESOME, no complications now though I thought I was going blind when I was allergic to the eye drops. Highly recommended and WAYYYYYY cheaper then braces. Well worth the $1250 total or maybe about $400-$600 out of pocket after extended medical coverage. (thats like 3 or 4 items at lululemon  )

Thanks, Elle! I think we may have the same wires. Mine are definitely thick and rectangular, not round and flexible. Surprisingly, I haven't had any pain from them. Just some soreness the first couple of days with these new triangles. Now everything feels fine, and they already look better.

Here's hoping you get your "sentence" commuted. :D

300 days in braces -- Many more to go but loving results so far

Well after another crazy busy summer I am finally updating my blog with a pic.

I can't believe its been 300 days already, its feels like I just got them yesterday but also that I have had them forever and can't wait to get them off. I try not to think about them much but I know in the back of my mind its a huge reason why I don't feel as happy as I should and also I HATE SEEING PICTURES of how uncomfortable I look in pictures.

The last few adjustments have been the same, just a bit of tweaking, it never really hurts much though last week it took a lot of force to get the upper wire back in. My overbite is very minimal now. The assistants are always surprised I have only had them for 9 or 10 months when I go in ( I have had 3 different ladies last few visits). I have had finishing wires for about 2-3 months

I have had the same elastics configuration the last few months. Upper canine to lower molar. This is a great elastic set up because its not as visible and I can eat with them in.

Anyways that's about it, nothing exciting just the long middle part of the braces journey. I am still hoping for a braces miracle, my sentence is 18-30 months or 28-30 months there was 2 quotes so who knows. I would LOVE to know I am getting these things off at 18 months ( or 250 more days, not that I'm counting ) just in time for next summer. So I will keep hoping and if not then another year. Ugghhh who knows try not to think about it so I don't get too anxious and start hating these things again.

Hope everyone's braces are progressing and seeing the results they want.

Take care

Elle

Hi Elle!

Wow - your teeth are looking truly FABULOUS! Our uppers look very similar (though yours are more level than mine) in that you can't even see any overjet when looking at them head-on; only when you tilt your head back a bit can you see it. Our overjets look very similar, too! I just posted a couple of pics in my thread today. Your lowers look perfect already. You must be so pleased with your quick results!

I always wonder why other people's powerchains look so much thicker (nicer) than mine. Maybe it's the particular brand, or color. I kind of WANT mine to look like that. I'm getting a "chain change" tomorrow, and I think I'm going with lavendar. I know they don't stain easily, and I need that since I don't go back again for another month.

Hi Catgryl

Thank you. I am very happy with the results, when I look at day 1 pictures ( that I have printed and then hold them up to the mirror) to compare the change I think WOW that's CRAZY!!!

My overbite/overjet was a whole 1 cm or 10 mm before which is CRAZY!!!

I can't wait for my upper wonky to be straighter. That really was the only tooth I totally HATED before I started and then I saw how bad my bottoms actually were and its amazing to see them straighter.

My powerchain is SILVER I find that colour to be pretty good and I eat anything I want, last month I had some curry saw and didn't brush my teeth after and it did get a little yellow but not too bad. I think lavender would be nice too.

One Year in braces :-* and probably less than a year to go  !!!!!!

I have not posted in awhile cause my braces are getting VERY VERY boring. I barely have any overbite maybe 1mm compared to 10mm a year ago when I started this journey.

I went in for my 9th adjustment yesterday and asked the question....... SOOOOOOOOOOOO it's been a year, do I have another year and a half??? And he kinda thinks and hesitates and says OH NO, a year tops and maybe if I'm really really good wearing the elastics then possibly the summer. I am not holding him to that because you never know how fast the teeth will move but I love knowing I am probably less than 365 days to go and that by 2013......(ugh that sounds like forever lol) I am going to say the summer and then just be upset if they are not off

I was originally told 18-32 months and that I would have to wear the forsus springs. I have not had to wear the springs though and my teeth are looking really good. I wear my elastics 24/7 and maybe have them out for a few hours total in 6 weeks for the occasional meal out or Christmas party, other than that I wear them when I eat and sometimes even if I am brushing my teeth quickly. They elastics are same as they have been for a long time (6 months) upper canine hook to lower 1st molar hook. I like this set up, they are not too noticeable and I can eat easily with them on and not too many things get stuck.

I want my braces off ASAP, I am going to follow all the rules of wearing my elastics. My 13 year old niece got her braces last week and my 13 year old nephew is suppose to get them soon and also my 10 year old nephew will start retainers then braces. I am now in the race of my life to get these babies off before my nephews and niece. Game on !!!!!!!

Thanks for everybody's support this last year. This website has made my braces journey so much easier.
Hope everybody has an amazing Christmas and that you get some time off to spend with their family[.

Merry Christmas !!!!

Elle

PS For you that have read my whole crazy blog, Grams is now 96.5 years old and I am trying to get her moved closer to me so I can take care of her better with my mother. Yesterday Grams told me my teeth looked beautiful and VERY straight  Thanks Grams, I probably would not have done this if it wasn't for her hurtful but true comments about my teeth not looking so good. I like to remind her that my $7000 smile was because of her and then she says I NEVER SAID THAT about your teeth  .........Last time I listen to a 96.5 year old with dementia
