Hi Everyone!

I am 53 yrs old and just had my braces put on Jan 18. I have the top wires in and am going for a tooth extraction today and then will have my lower wires placed this afternoon.

I am so happy to have found this forum. It is so reassuring to find others who are going through the same things I am. It is especially comforting to know that I am not the only one that decided to do this at this age :)

Thanks Plumcore and MusicLady!

Well I made it through today. I was really stressed out about having to have the tooth pulled - not the procedure but the actual removal of a perfectly good tooth.

I called my orthodontist this morning and he said to come in and talk to him prior to my extraction. I did so and he was wonderful. He answered all my questions and we talked about various options for treatment - pro and cons - and why this is the tx plan he recommends. I felt so much better and confident in the tx options when we were done.

I had the tooth extracted and it went very smoothly - no pain. I had to wait about 2 hours until the bleeding stopped and then I had my lower wire put on. I am home and relaxing - and so relieved that the extraction part is over.

Now, if i did not have to face lots of people all day tomorrow at work - with this glaring hole right in the front of my mouth.......... I guess I will just smile and show off my bling!!:)
