Braced today!

#1 Post by squiggy241 »

Finally got braces today at the age of 33! In-ovation C on top and metal on lowers. I went with metallic blue ligs. It looks so cute :) Now I will get carded again ;)

Potentially dumb question coming up....

If you have In-Ovations, why do you need ligatures as well?

Not stupid at all! But that was funny :). Lowers are not self ligating, just the uppers. I'm going to update that....

No they don't hurt when you get them put on, they're glued on, getting them on is the easy part. It's more force and pressure you feel after a while and they may be sensitive for a few days or so, which is normal...painkillers will help ease the pressure you feel later, but its not necessary depending on your tolerance for it. Just avoid hard foods and it'll be peachy for ya, and don't worry! Doesn't take long to get used to braces at all.

Thank you that makes me feel better. All of my friends kept telling me "it sucks to be you!" and spacers are worse, right?

Personally, I considered spacers the worst, more annoying than painful though. The braces feel alright right now, just a little tightness! You will be fine :)

Thanks so much! I'm kind of excited now! And my mom is making me home-made whipped cream(:

Congratulations! I got braces yesterday too, at the age of 24. I never stopped getting carded though for the most part though. Will have fun at the local joint this weekend, haha!
