Ahh! I can't believe it's been ~10 months now. Things are looking awesome. I went in for my umpteenth adjustment today and the ortho just changed my power chain.. quickest appointment yet! I took some pics about a week ago and just never got around to uploading them, but now, without further ado:

Overjet? What overjet?? Ahhh! It was actually somewhat overcorrected at the time of my appointment last month, but the ortho took care of that very quickly.

I'm very pleased with my progress so far :D :-*

Feeling like I'm in a funk :| . This always happens when I have job interviews coming up. I can't help but think administrators are wondering why the heck they would hire someone to teach middle school when they look like a middle schooler themself. :(

Another adjustment down! The ortho was really happy with my progress. He said I did such a good job with my elastics that we now have to go back in the other direction lol. The first time I had them going from the upper front to lower back (I don't remember which teeth off the top of my head), which gave me an underbite, to my utter disbelief. So then, we had them going from my lower front to upper back and now I have a small overjet (waaaay small compared to my original problem). So now I'm back to elastics on my upper canines back to my last bottom molars. I have a new powerchain as well that stretches across all of my uppers. My lower wire and bands haven't been changed for probably 9 months. My teeth have been sore for a few days but I'm thankful for that - it means they're working!!

I cannot WAIT to get these bad boys off my teeth. Please close faster, gaps!! I think I'd be satisfied getting them removed now, even WITH my gaps! lol. Who know my teeth could look so awesome??!?! No regrets!

I think we got our braces on the same day (April 29--almost a year-can you believe it!!).

Anyway, your teeth look amazing!! You are further along than me for sure. My overjet is not in like yours, and my midline is still way off...but it's getting there....

You should be so happy with your progress--looking fabulous!! :-**

Thanks, klobird! This year has really flown by! Here's to hoping the next one goes by even faster!!!

Maia, if you go to a website like tickerfactory.com (There are a couple diff sites. You can try googling "message board tickers" or something like that too), you set up your ticker and then copy and paste the code for it in your signature, which is under "user control panel" at the top right of the page.

So yesterday someone came into the place I work and asked me why I'm not in school (meaning high school) (He was pretty old so I wasn't offended or anything.. plus, I know I look young). Then later, a woman said, "You've got braces?" and made a kind of pained, glad-it's-not-me face. So I talked to her about it and she said she feels bad for everyone who has to get them because they look so awful (I think she meant they look painful and uncomfortable, not that they look bad, although now I'm not sure...). She also told me I look 15. By the end of this conversation I was thinking "Geez, lady! Keep it to yourself!! :-= " :(

My bite is already back to wanting to be an underbite with these elastics.. this is so weird lol.. on the plus side, my gaps are looking fantastic (compared to where they were when I started).. just a liiiittttle bit more. C'mon, ladies! You can do this!

Had another adjustment yesterday. He didn't change much but today my teeth are feeling it! (no pain, no gain!!) This time, the ortho put a bend in my upper wire right where my gaps are. Then they put a new power chain on top and reversed the direction of my elastics again (they overcorrected again, so I had an underbite). It feels like my teeth moved a lot between that visit and today. My gaps feel so much smaller!

The ortho told me he's thrilled with my progress! That always makes me feel good :)

There was a kid (probably around 10 or 11 years old) getting his molar bands fitted today, which I remember all too well... (the assistant had a lot of trouble fitting mine and tore my gums up). The assistant would tell this boy to bite down and he would moan (with his mouth open), "OoOoOoohhh.. aahhhh".. lol! I don't know why I found it so entertaining.. just glad it wasn't me, I guess.

I'm hoping that one year was the longest stretch of my time in braces.. here's hoping for 2 more months!! (haha, I can dream, can't I?!)
:D
