May I ask if your ortho left you with a very small bit of an overjet (like, 1mm or so)? I ask because I'm supposed to be debraced soon, and while my overjet isn't noticeable head-on, it is when I tilt my head back. I almost don't care about it anymore, and would choose debracing over 6 more months of braces, if he said he may not be able to fix it.

Thought I'd contribute to this post. Firstly, congratulations on your 'debrace' your teeth look exceptional. After starting the process (4 teeth extracted to kick it all off) in November 09 mine are finally coming off on 1 May 2012 and I'm anxious and excited all at the same time, I like to say I'm excanxious. I do have a couple of questions, firstly, at my penultimate appointment he changed the wire on my uppers to the thickest wire I've ever had throughout this process. I am not one to ask many questions at my appointment (good or bad) but was wondering why he would decide to place a thick wire on for my final month? I have had a thickish wire on the lowers for a number of months (along with power chain) but this is the first on my uppers. As a side note, I'd just like to say OWWW it's a constant ache and you can't eat - not sure why I'm whinging so much with this wire as I've had so many months with aching teeth especially after my appointments and I know it settles after a week or so, but heck, I'm going to say it again cause it's my last month OWWW.

Secondly, what's the general run down of the debrace day? I'm imagining a lot of yanking, pulling, cleaning, pain, aches, sensitivity... I must say I am looking forward to getting rid of these metal bands around my pre molars, they are causing my gums to be so tender.

I know I won't have celebrity perfect teeth at the end of this, but from where I started I sure have come a long way. I will be getting bonded retainers on uppers & lowers which I'm not concerned about as I've been reading about them and it seems to me that if there is a higher chance of relapse this is a good option.

Anyway, that's my two cents, bring on 1 May!

p.s This board had been a wonderful help when I first got my braces on and felt like an outcast.

In my opinion, the debracing was a piece of cake. They pulled them off, buffed my choppers and gave me the removed braces for a keepsake. I had no pain or discomfort.
