Hi, julieh! I'm going to be honest, I've been trying to get braces for 6-7 years and I've needed them longer than that. When I decided to go for it (at the kind encouragement of my husband) early this year, I wound up crying a boatload of tears. The orthodontist stressed me out, the idea of having a mouthful of metal stressed me out, the money really stressed me out. I'm a worrier, and this brought out the worst in me.
So I turned to the internet and I found this site. I read every story I could find and I looked at every picture I could. I was slowly convinced. Now, just a week into braces, I know that this was the right choice for me. It's going to be a bumpy road, and there will be surgery involved (yikes), but I'm feeling certain that I made the right choice.
Take your time with your decision. Have as many consultations as you need. And be sure to tell (or even show!) your daughter that it is never too late to make a positive change in your life. Best of luck!
