Re: Greetings Metal Mouth Members

I just wanted to give everyone a update and thank everyone for there support. It has been five days since my top braces were put on and I do not regret it one bit! I was so worried that I would go in for my appointment last Wednesday (April 11th) and either chicken out or have a mental breakdown (same office I visited as a kid, same orthodontist, flash backs, etc). None of that happened and in a little over an hour I was in upper braces again without much grief. It went by so fast...

I forgot how much I hated the molar bands until I ate my first meal (they dig into my cheeks like razor blades and irritated one of my old scars from a arch-wire). But discomfort was the same as I remember from the first time which was about one-two days (not bad, just the feeling of tension and slight discomfort). Brackets have never bothered my cheeks, it must be me or the choice of metal brackets my orthodontist uses.

I also wanted to let everyone know that no one at work has realized I have upper braces until I point it out. I also remembered that upper braces are not all that visible on me as my upper lip hides my teeth until I smile, laugh. Again as many people have pointed out other people don't care as much as we think they do or have considered it themselves or indifferent, I now have joined sides with them. I will be talking with people that are quite a bit older and they wish they had taken care of there teeth when they were younger like I am and honor my decision. My lower braces are going to be more visible but I don't care as it has been a very positive experience so far. Now it is all about maintenance and hoping the end results are worth it. As crazy as it sounds I think that I can see a difference already.

My Orthodontist says we will schedule for lower braces in a month or two so... probably June or July based on my work schedule. As crazy as it sounds I am looking forward to my bottoms to go on to solve my crooked crowded bottom front teeth.

Again, thank you for all of your support and for those out there on the fence, go for it!
