had 1st adjustment today

#1 Post by ashenk224 »

So I had my first adjustment today and my teeth don't hurt as bad as I thought they would (at least not yet!). They kept my top wire at a .014 and left the upper second molars unattached. They bumped up my bottom wire, ot sure to what (maybe a .018?). They also attached my bottom archwire to my second molars. Unfortunately they didn't bracket my bottom left canine like I was hoping, but hopefully by next appointment! Here are some photos from the beginning til now...

Not a whole lot, but if you look at how my bottom teeth look from when I first got my braces and then when I got my first adjustment, you'll notice how my left 2nd molar is rotated out... that started happening when they put a power chain on my back 3 bottom teeth to make room to move my lower left canine in. Now that they attached the archwire to that 2nd molar, it started moving back in line, not a lot, but it's noticeable. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll notice more movement!

turbos... Prevents me from biting down on my brackets until my overbite is corrected. The orthodontist told me most of their patients who wear them keep them on close to a year. I'm hoping I don't have to wear them that long because they're giving me a bit of a lisp and food tends to get stuck on them if I bite into a sandwich and things like that.
