Post a normal pic of you smiling from front and sides, I think most people's teeth wouldn't look the best with their lips stretched liked that!
Brace Date: 14th April 2011
Estimated Debrace Date: 14th April 2013
Real Debrace Date 18th June 2013

Thanks kennyandrew, I think those pics give a good comparison of my teeth before and after particularly since I can't go back and change the before pics to make them 'normal' as you say. (You do realise how Orthos normally take pics of teeth don't you)

Anyways please try to ignore my lips and focus on my teeth. :-*

I would welcome further comments and opinions, thanks guys.

To be honest - I wouldn't be happy either. Your bite looks open at the front, and I would want a better closed teeth smile aesthetically than you have. Is it that your orthodontist is concerned regarding the implications of any more excessive treatment time in braces, rather than being satisfied with the result you have? Maybe the orthodontist is worried about your roots if you stay in fixed braces any longer?
But no - aesthetically I think you are right to be concerned.

Thanks for the comment libbylou, I see what you are saying about my bite, just spent the last few minutes assessing my bite.

I think my ortho just wants to end it for practical reasons, initial consulation was 12 months but it has lasted longer (29 months) since for half the time there was no movement in closing the gap which after Ortho tried many things it became clear was due to Ortho having put on the thickest rectangular wire on at 7 months which he says didn't work since in my case it caused friction stopping teeth movement.
(I remember at one point when he had me in the thick rectangular wire and nothing was happening he looked so disheartened and asked me whether I had trauma or accident of some sort in the past in that area eg since that might have explained why things were not moving as he expected, and once he indirectly blamed it on my tongue :P)
Only when he moved back to a thinner circular wire 6 months ago did the gap start to close.

So in summary
13 months (without) thick rectangular wire progress made
16 months with thick rectangular wire no progress made
Causing 12 month consulation to become 26 months so far, perhaps leaving Ortho a little tired of it all and just glad that the gap is closed.
He's a great guy and genuinely good at and enthusiastic about his job but I'm not sure he has my level of patience and there were clear signs he was losing hope during the period the plan was not working out.

Thanks
I will post a picture shortly to work out what if anything further could be done.

Although I have been in braces for the last 26 months I am still not sure of what they can and can't actually do in regards to tooth movement.

So that I can bring a specific query to my ortho - Is it possible to move my lower lateral incisor and canine both out and slightly rotated in such a way to increase the circumference of my smile on that side, I have attempted to illustrate what I mean by some arrows and circular guideline in the after photos below.

At the moment on that side it is as if my smile is slightly collapsed/introverted.

All comments appreciated on whether that sort of tooth movement is possible using braces.
